Summary
There are only two ways of becoming a lycanthrope. Either being genetically born with it or being bitten by the Bitch Queen also known as the first werewolf Lycaon himself. While the former was fairly common, specially in werewolf packs, the latter was almost as rare as Zeus keeping it in his pants for longer than a few years, which suffice to say, was very rare.
So ofcourse it was the second option which came to bite Nico di Angelo in the ass. Literally.

Nico tried his best to keep his face from contorting into pure disgust. Clearly, from the look Will gave him, he had failed miserably. "This is why everyone hates New Jersey," Nico whispers, taking Will's hand, intending to melt deep in the shadows and escape safely.
"Well, gee, I think Jersey's pretty nice." A cheerful voice stops the two teens in their tracks. They look up and see a masked face smiling down at them. Neither of them had even heard the vigilante approach them. And yet there, a few feet above them, Nightwing is crouched down looking at them curiously.
"Just proving our point..." Will grumbles.

Realistically, Nico would never willingly live in Gotham, and he's sure that Will shares this sentiment. What was supposed to be a quick weekend trip to Gotham to see Will’s mother in concert spirals violently out of control when Hecate herself comes to them, turning their vacation into something dangerously close to a quest. Now trapped in a city overrun with crime syndicates, bat-adjacent vigilantes, and whatever the hell is lurking beneath Gotham, Nico and Will are forced to adapt quickly, or get swallowed whole by the city of shadows.
