Peter is informed a new kid is joining his intern-work at Stark Labs. With his usual catastrophes, a looming Gala-Expo, and a new prick who's trying to act like he and Tony are somehow best-friends, Peter has to keep his sanity in tact.

It was a long night.A guy gave him a nasty shiner, a ring of purple around his eye that’s faded with sleep, but aches with any touch or movement. Peter sighs, having a sip of his coffee, paperboard warming his hands, a portable hearth he passes back and forth. Backpack slung over his shoulders, he makes his way to Stark Industries—after debate club, he tries to squeeze in a few hours here before patrolling into the early hours of the morning. He offered to quit the club to use those hours here, but Tony insisted.
His nose wrinkles. Cigarette stenches the air near the building’s entrance, and he scans the awning, narrowing his eyes when he sees some guy propped up against the front of the building, cigarette wedged in his fingers.
They meet eyes. Peter’s eyes dart to the visitor’s sticker on the guy’s distressed Thrasher shirt, the name in messy scrawl: Harley Keener.
Shit.

***Jason hits the exit button with more force than necessary. He already watched Dick’s quarterly tests, per Bruce’s instructions. Dick scored better. Consistently.
“Master Jason, you have shown consistent improvement with every test, I’m sure you will—”
“You’ll do better next time,” Bruce interrupts, eyes on the monitor.
Jason swallows, his throat tight. “And if I don’t?”
“Then you don’t.”

Kirishima walks to the door and opens it—the sight of Bakugou punching him in the heart. And stomach. And ears, too, as those ring incessantly, but maybe it’s the adrenaline leaving his body; it’s both relieved and terrified of Bakugou, oscillating between the two.Bakugou looks at him, eyes drooped and half-lidded in an unimpressed way. His eyes shoot down to Kirishima’s hands, soaking wet and dripping a water and blood solution—the water bottle in one hand.
“I have bad aim.” Kirishima says, then adding, “You rushing me made me thirsty, and I was so rushed I spilled it.”
“And you cut yourself while drinking water?”
“It’s pretty cold,” Kirishima supplies, but he lacks the creativity to elaborate and explain the absurdity of his statement, so the lie sits there, in the air, between them.

After a heated discussion, Peter runs into the woods, has a conversation with Tony, and considers failure.

“Gotta say all of it was a total trainwreck. Your argument construction skills are in dire need.”“Uh-huh, sure. You have glasses?”
“Overstimulated?”
“Yep.”
Head ducked down, Peter holds his hand out and titanium wires cool his fingers. His eyes closed, Peter places them on his face and opens them. The stabbing dulls into poking. Peter looks up at Tony—dressed in sweats and a V-neck sweater, a casual ensemble that shocks Peter as much as when he first saw it, arriving at the lakehouse—and he postures a kind of annoying amusement that prickles Peter’s “Tony sucks” sense.
“Well then,” Peter starts, stumbling to his feet, Tony catching him, “I’ll get out of your hair.” And he turns around and begins crawling up the tree.
“Peter Benjamin Parker you will not climb up that tree.”
Mouth agape, Peter whips his head to Tony. “I will not be middle-named.”
“Then don’t pull stunts that warrant being middle-named. Now get down or I swear to God I will get my rocket boots and bring you down myself.”
“Did you just call them rocket boots?”

Edamura’s gaze flickers to the sign next to Laurent’s Himbo sign, reading ‘Days Since Last Attempted Con’ and notes that it has also been reset back to zero.
