“You didn’t sleep very well last night, did you,” says Hakuri.
Uruha feels it again then, the unyielding bundle of knots, dead weight in his chest, pressing his lungs into the ribcage and cutting off air, old cravings and other unfulfilled things clawing at the walls of their lockbox. He thinks he might have thrown away the key ages ago. “Sorry, did I wake you?”
“It’s okay.” Hakuri shrugs. “We can’t sleep sometimes either.”
The enchanted blades are no more. The country rebuilds. Uruha tries to.
