“He’s not your kid!”
There’s complete silence in the aftermath, besides the ticking of the clock, and the slow leak from the kitchen tap that he’d meant to fix a few weeks ago.
Buck felt his face heat up, and he avoided Eddie’s gaze, nodding to himself minutely. His eyes were burning and he clenched his teeth instead, jaw locking as he bit his bottom lip.
It’s Eddie’s turn to be blindsided.
“I think you should call your attorney.”
........
They’ve fought before, but never like this.
A post 9×11 speculation.

Summary
Things get messy eight months after they all decide to stay, though they’d changed; some things would always remain the same.
Buck never expected it to get this messy, however.
Tommy stared at him, sitting next to Eddie, back and forth, and Buck felt like he was being examined under a microscope, “You know, I find it funny the first time we had sex it was in Eddie’s house.”

Summary
The idea comes to him about four weeks too late, a month after an interesting series of events that leads to the four of them hiding in the back of the ambulance before their shift, early enough that they’re still early enough for Gerrard.
“Wait. Eddie?”
He raises an eyebrow in acknowledgement.
“Why don’t I ask Chris to live with me?”
After four tumultuous weeks, Buck thinks things deserve to work out for once and strives to make it happen. He may not have all the answers, but he’d never stop trying to fix his family when it was broken.

Eddie opened the Safari app to find a specific recipe Buck was looking for, but something was already typed in the search box.
His eyes widened at the words on the screen, a flush of embarrassment climbing up his neck.
Beefy blonde twink gets railed by—
Buck's voice calls out from the kitchen “Did you find it yet?” and Eddie hastily closes the tab, opening another with a surprising speed from someone considered technologically illiterate.
As close as they were, he’d never had a thought about the type of ‘adult entertainment’ Buck was partial to.
Now, it was all he could think about.
Or;
Buck makes dip and Eddie has a crisis over his best-friends porn habits. They fall in love along the way.

Summary
There were no hard and fast rules when it came to soulmarks, but there were a few generally accepted principles:
1. The marks are echoes of your soulmate’s first waking thoughts, usually in their native language.
2. The marks last anywhere from a few hours to a full day, depending on the intensity of emotion.
3. They appear sporadically, not every first thought is focused enough to appear as a mark.
4. They appear on your body the moment your soulmate wakes, regardless of time zone.
5. It’s rude to examine or comment on someone else’s marks
6. Evan “Buck” Buckley doesn’t have a soulmate.
Okay, maybe that last one was known only to two people, Buck himself and his sister Maddie, and Maddie refused to agree with him on this matter. Buck maintained however, that 28 years was plenty long enough to wait for an echo of his own without finally l accepting that, clearly, he was one of those unlucky few who didn’t get a soulmate. Sure, not everyone found their person- their echo, but most people at least got marks that gave them hope that their soulmate was out there somewhere. Not Buck, though. No, Buck was obviously meant to be alone forever. Or at least between hookups.

Summary
He knew what it meant; the shakes, the increased secrecy, the defensiveness. He was well and truly on his way down the path of addiction.
Buck also knew that he should stop. He could ask for help. Talk to someone.
But that would mean admitting he had failed.
There's something inherently twisted to the fact that in this moment, clutching bottles of pills, he feels closer to Bobby than he has since the man's death.
Some rotten part of him finds comfort in it. Addiction runs in families - if this is the only thing he has left of his pseudo-father, then who is Buck to deny it? Misplaced spite makes him tear the bottle open.
It's not like Bobby is here to stop him.

And it’s no different now. Because Buck is a good friend - the best friend Eddie has ever had the privilege of having. He’s been the one sure thing in his and Chris’s lives since they came to LA nearly a decade ago, and the hungry thing in Eddie’s chest that thrives off of each moment spent in proximity to him is spoiled rotten with his easy affection and loving companionship. And that’s enough. It has to be enough, because Buck doesn’t - can’t possibly - feel the same way.

Summary
When they make it back to the station, Eddie expects things to go back to normal. Clearly, he imagined something, his own guilt transpiring into something edging toward an auditory hallucination. He pushes on, shedding his gear and making his way into the kitchen. He chops up the vegetables handed to him, slicing them finely, long fingers careful with the blade, well, until—
I don’t even know how to stop staring. God, his hands. Holy shit. I wonder how many of his fingers would fit in my mouth—
“Jesus Christ,” Eddie chokes, knife slipping in his hand, almost nicking his finger. He pauses, placing the knife to the side of the chopping board. “What did you—what was that?”
Buck looks up from where he’d been staring at Eddie’s hands, catching his eye. “Huh?”His eyes are beautiful, Buck says—or his voice does. Eddie watches, but there, right in front of him, Buck’s mouth is unmoving.
OR Eddie's forced to confront the situation at hand because he can't get Buck's voice out of his damn head.
