Cloud is thrown back in time and physically altered by JENOVA, which is a problem but not enough of one to keep him from exploding the Nibelheim reactor and sending the Mansion up in flames. No, the real problem is the flamboyant red-clad SOLIDER asshole who takes one look at him and decides that kidnapping a rogue experiment is a charitable thing to do.
Maybe he shouldn't have dodged the name question by calling himself "Subject C."
