But tonight a pair of smoldering amber eyes bored into her from the edge of the bar; the man they belonged to was tall and unquestionably hot, even from a distance. She offered a salacious wink in his direction and fell into a perfectly-timed crybaby, punctuating each beat with a grind before tossing her hair back and crawling upstage.
The rest of the number became a blur of flips, dips, and grabbing tips, but that presence – those eyes – followed her the whole time.

Years ago, on a rooftop with his brothers and their newest brother-from-another-timeline, wounds from the thwarted invasion still fresh with mere weeks of healing, Casey was finally opening up to them about his – their collective – past. Or was it the distant, alternate future? Such descriptive inconsistencies fueled Casey Jr.’s avoidance and uncomfortable silence on the topic.
But on that night tales of another life flowed freely from the kid’s mouth – stories of their strange found family fighting for survival. It was difficult, but not too weird to imagine themselves almost 20 years older and teaching a pre-teen Casey their Hamato ninjutsu ways. Mikey’s curiosity and unfettered questioning spoke for all of the brothers; but the interrogation paused suddenly as Casey offered a piece of information none of them were prepared for:“Your partners…you each had a partner, and they raised me just as much as you guys did…”
Or, my take on the boys meeting their alternate-future partners in this lifetime.

Inuyasha nodded, hyperaware of the woman standing in line behind him. His heart was beating so loudly, the pulse of it echoed in his ears.
With a flourish, Kagome grabbed at the still-empty cup with his name scribbled on it, and grinned. “You’ve got yourself a deal.”
Koga, his arch-nemesis, was a dick. Miroku, his best friend, was a lying liar. And now, Inuyasha needed a fake girlfriend for his office's holiday party. Wonderful.

A sex thing. Inuyasha makes a face at the ceiling. God, why does Miroku say shit like that? “Yeah, well,” he grouses, grabbing at his cell phone so that he can look his friend in the eye. “Give me some fucking credit. I’m trying not to fall in love with her.”
Miroku looks, in that moment, far too smug. “And how’s that going for you?”
“Fuck you,” comes his automatic response, a knee-jerk reaction. Begrudgingly, unhappily, Inuyasha sighs his next admission. “Not great.”
Inuyasha has a life plan that is viciously, cheerfully and quickly dismantled the moment he becomes temporary roommates with one Kagome Higurashi. Unsurprisingly, this is all Miroku's fault.
