Crossing his ankles propped on the table, jostling his helmet next to him, his mouth quirked up. “At least I’m not you, who sees the idiot as some sort of pseudo father figure.”
Dick choked on his coffee, and Damian sputtered and took a step back. “What?!”
“You heard me.” He thumbed in the direction of Dick, who clumsily tried to mop up the hot liquid staining his shirt and scalding his skin with a crusty dishrag that smelled like mildew. “You see him in a way you don’t your own dear old dad.”
Damian’s cheeks darkened in a deep flush that even reddened the tips of his ears. “You don’t know what you’re talking about!”

He had been on monitor duty.
One of the last things he remembered before his surroundings changed from one blink to another, was staring at one of the many monitors in front of his face while keeping up with Timothy’s confrontation with an alien magician, and murmuring in the microphone for his brother to hear how, if Damian was the one in his brother’s place, the enemy would have surrendered already. He, too, had the vague memory of Timothy saying something along the lines of wishing him to be quiet, and then he blinked in another dimension, with the batcomputer shut off just like everything else.

There was almost a script to their post-mission debriefs. Superman would go in on him, Kon would nod. Yes Sir, no Sir, whatever you say Sir, because Superman was Superman and Kon was a clone. Who was he to question Superman? Even when Kon witnessed Superman’s post-mission debriefs with the Justice League, with Jon, even with Nightwing, and they were nowhere near as harsh and unrelenting as his own debriefs with Superman, did Kon dare to call him out on it. But this had been building, the jealousy and the burning hot rage. Maybe it was the comparison to Jon, maybe it had just been a matter of time.
Kon looked up at Superman, jutting his chin out defiantly.
“Fuck you.”

Ever since the Osial debacle, Childe has been avoiding a certain incognito former god turned funeral parlor consultant. But not because of any ill feelings that could’ve possibly carried over from said debacle, as one might assume, but because the realization that Zhongli and Rex Lapis are one in the same led to the worst case of 20/20 hindsight whiplash that Childe has ever experienced.
The moment it came upon him caused such a visceral, gut-wrenching reaction, he immediately had to excuse himself from the meeting he’d been having with Ekaterina to retreat into his private room and scream wordlessly into his pillow. Which was then followed up with him incoherently screaming at the memory of his past self– “You idiot! Moron! You absolute clown! What the fuck have you done to yourself?! What the fuck?!”
But he had to scream in that moment– he had to, because all his mind could do was replay a highlight reel of all the times he now so deeply regretted…
“Say Zhongli… when looking at one of his statues, don’t you think Morax is probably really hot? Like, he’s absolutely stacked! And that’s only what we can see from the front!"
