Summary
The royal court of the Indy Realm had many traditions, the generational Choosing of the next Heir to the Throne being one of the most important. Noble sons (adopted and by birth) were gathered to compete. In the past, the Choosing was not without bloodshed, often resulting in the last man standing being the final Choice. That had changed with King Dario's generation, although that Choosing was not without its trauma.
Pato, Josef, Colton, Lexi and Nolan are the candidates for this generation.
Who will be Chosen and will all of them make it through alive?

Taking a deep breath, Clem carefully opened the door, still not sure what to expect. The staircase wasn’t too bad, though it could do with a bit of cleaning. The kitchen, though... The empty bottles, takeaway boxes, and ashtrays full of cigarette butts became a familiar sight, but why the hell was the floor covered with a thin layer of water? He sat on the nearest barstool and tried to focus, but his brain didn’t quite want to cooperate. Absent-mindedly, he opened the nearest drawer and reached for the bottle of painkillers, his best friend these days, but it betrayed him by being totally empty. Okay, coffee would do too; first coffee, then recollecting.

And there’s nothing like a fairy-tale of scandal and lost nobility! The story is completely from Ori’s point of view. Expect appearances from Thror, Frerin (who is an utterly spoiled brat - apologies to Frerin worshipers), Lady Galadriel, Thranduil and practically everyone else. This is totally safe for Dain fans!
Smaug never hatched and Isildur listened to Elrond (somebody has to) and the one Ring no longer exists. Sauron is just a bad guy with orc armies.
There are some serious bits, but mostly it’s just a lively romp with food. Did we mention the food?Series
