From across the street, you can hear a crowd muttering. You turn to see about twenty people crowded around your mural- the one of the Madrigals that Alma had been so proud of. They’re all whispering to one another, nervous looks on their faces.
You pick your baskets back up and start over to the scene. Something is wrong.
As you approach, several members of the crowd turn and look at you sympathetically. “What’s the matter?”
The crowd parts, and you get more sympathetic looks as you come closer to see-
Oh, no.
Red paint has been splattered over the middle of the painting, deliberately obscuring Bruno’s face. Scrawling across his body in sloppy, thick brushstrokes are the words “We will not be cursed by you again.”
The rest of the Madrigals have been left carefully untouched.
