Steve held back the urge to say that he should've saved him 70 years earlier.
“I didn’t save you, you saved yourself,” He said instead. “Besides, you would have done the same for me,” This time, the space before Bucky’s reply was a little shorter, and his tone was a little bit more present.
“I don't know if that part of me is…there anymore.”
“Which part, the stupid or the stubborn?” Steve flashed a grin, and to his surprise, Bucky returned a weak one. Christ…that was the first time he’d seen his best friend smile since 1945.-OR-
