Summary
Diluc stares at the ugly vase he keeps near the base of the stairs in the winery.
It's gaudy. It doesn't match any of the other decor, and he can't remember where it came from or why he so foolishly displayed it somewhere so obvious. He doesn't recall it being a gift from anyone, yet he knows he himself would never purposely choose a ceramic piece so atrocious as this.
"Uh, sir," Elzer speaks up. "You've been glaring at that vase for awhile now like it's offended you. Would you like to replace it?"
"No," Diluc says, startling himself and his long-time employee.
It's such an ugly vase, it makes his head hurt just looking at it.
And yet
"No. It can stay."

Summary
He leaned back against the sundial, his heavy lidded eyes never leaving the sight of the ruins of Mondstadt in the distance. How did this happen and why did his feet lead him here? He’s too tired to try and remember but he did have a small recollection of a certain bard urging him to come here despite his hesitance. He clutched the deep injury on his stomach as he let out a shuddering breath.
He closed his eyes momentarily and when he opened them again, he didn’t expect for a woman whose body is transparent to be kneeling down in front of him. He didn’t have the energy to ask, he only blinked his eyes slowly.
“Hello… star-pupiled child. My old friend must have told you to come to me as a last resort.” the woman said as she smiled so gently. “Do not worry. I’ll grant your deepest wish and I hope this would be enough to change the outcome of this… dreadful war.”
He felt her hands cradling his face in a motherly manner and he closed his eyes. The last thing he remembered was a soft touch on his forehead and the cool and yet comfortable wind surrounding him in an embrace.

Little does he know, the information was meant to lure the other Ragnvindr brother. After sustaining a life threatening injury, Kaeya is used to bait in the real prize, Diluc. Unfortunately for the fatui, Kaeya knows one thing they don’t. Diluc would never come to his rescue.

You see, Alhaitham has long since accepted that there were certain immutable facts of life.

These were foregone conclusions for anyone who had the clarity to see them.
So when he looks up to see that same Kaveh, the one that he knows like the back of his own hand, older, more elegant, and more settled than ever before, he feels short of breath. The hair he’s so used to has grown long past his shoulders and settles like liquid gold across his lithe back. Soft carmine eyes look at the two of them with a mixture of alarm, shock, and perhaps some fondness. Alhaitham would mention the shortest shorts he’s ever seen, but he’s using all his brain power to not focus on that for fear of embarrassing himself.
When Alhaitham and Kaveh get too close to a strange leyline, they get transported years into the future.

It hits without warning: a roaring bonfire, an endless field of glowing lampgrass. The world becomes nothing but heat. Kaeya clamps a hand over his mouth and doubles over.

Summary
On the heels of an argument, Diluc goes tromping through Mondstadt ruins in search of Fatui and stumbles across a volatile ley line.
It's not that he hates Kaeya - he doesn't, at least he tells himself so. He just hates every time Kaeya tries to be what they were before.
Then the ley line explodes, and he finds himself in his seventeen-year-old body, dealing with five years of stress and surrounded by people who don't understand why the boy who doted on Kaeya at every turn suddenly hates him. And when he finally loses it, he's sent away from the estate - on his own, ashamed, shut out - just like Kaeya was, and everything Diluc has thought about Kaeya for the past five years is suddenly cast in a new light.

"Yes, it's me." Diluc continued, his two hands clasped around the fabric of his neck, as if threatening him. "What the hell do you think you're doing?"
"I don't think I understand what you mean," he replied, genuinely at a loss. His gaze dropped to the other man's hands, which he observed with confusion and a raised eyebrow.
"This, what you just did, throwing yourself to your death." Anger permeated his voice, his eyebrows knitted together in rage. If Kaeya weren't cold from the excessive use of cryo, he could tell his hands were burning.

Or; Kaeya and his knights were on an expedition for a week, on the last day of work Kaeya overexploits his vision, which ends up almost destroying him. Diluc manages to arrive but his plans do not include helping him in a healthy way.
Kaeya and Diluc talk, and somehow it all ends with Diluc pointing his sword at him.

Summary
So the bird had a bit of an attitude problem.
As expected, he was too prideful to simply let a human touch him, let alone pick him up. Getting him inside had been an hour-long task, involving chasing the animal around with a blanket and cooing at him in an attempt to earn his trust. Now that they were finally inside however, the little guy was prancing around as if he owned the place.
He hadn’t allowed Kaeya to take a look at the ring around his leg even after getting treats, nipping at his fingers any time he tried, but he also didn’t seem to be particularly upset about being here.
‘You remind me of someone, you know?’ Kaeya sighed as he observed the bird walking around. ‘Someone equally stubborn, and unwilling to accept help. Ah, you even share the tendency to lash out at people who care about you.’
The bird looked up at him almost as if somehow understanding the words, tilting his head and blinking curiously, which made Kaeya grin in amusement.
‘Let’s call you Noctua for now.’

Kaeya struggles under the weight of grief he feels no right to. Diluc faces the reality of three years apart.
“As an Alberich, you must overcome your emotions,” a man whispered as he guided a stumbling boy in the dark.
“Us Raginvindrs are the teary sort I'm afraid,” another man laughed, patting a different teary-eyed boy with a laugh.
Kaeya closed his eyes against the memories, listening to the music start. So different yet similar in the end—neither of them were impervious to the dark call of the Abyss.
