Summary
Luka’s life is...a little complicated. He lives in Paris, and normally that’s enough to get people to understand the complications. Fortunately, unfortunately, the list goes on from there. Paris is only a starting point.
The girl he loves is in love with someone else. It goes on. The girl, Marinette Dupain-Cheng, is in love with Adrien Agreste, an extremely well-known supermodel. He’d known that before, during, and after falling in love with her.
Marinette had another life she had to keep a secret. He respected that up until he hit a breaking point, and even then he hadn’t broken. He’d bent.
She was Ladybug. Complication. Ladybug is loved by her partner, Chat Noir. Complication. Chat Noir is actually Adrien Agreste, the boy Marinette loved. Well, who would have thought? Complication.
Luka genuinely likes his life. It’s just complicated sometimes. Normally he does try to play it cool. A complex piece of music doesn’t get any easier when it’s sped up, so he might as well take it slow and enjoy the tune. A piece of him is a little frayed at the fact that somehow, being a superhero is the least complex part of his life.
He’s part-time. That’s probably part of it.

“I mean, yeah,” she said, and they stared at each other for a moment. “Of course,” she hurried on, “you’d have to be alright with being my candidate. Teacher. Guide. Whatever.” She made a few empty gestures with the marker, and the loose cap flew off the end, bouncing off the wall and rolling off her desk.
Adrien caught it before it could fall to the floor, handing it back to her. “I am,” he said, looking her in the eye. “I’ll do it.”

When the prosecution starts throwing around the word victim in reference to Adrien, he has to stuff his hands under his thighs to keep himself from bolting out of the courtroom.
Adrien had felt unsafe during those last few weeks, but, until he had woken up and seen Father silhouetted in his bedroom doorway, that had only been paranoia. Father was controlling and cold, but he wasn’t hateful. Adrien was isolated. He was often hungry. And some weeks ago, when he had snuck out to visit Nino, sitting thigh-to-thigh on his bed while Adrien cried in that silent, crumbling way of his, he hadn’t argued when Nino put a hand on his shoulder and said, tentatively, That’s abuse.
But Adrien remembers being small and Father touching his hair after he’d aced another test; Father holding his scribbled drawings like they were something precious, and framing them around his office; Father, dressed as Hawkmoth, his eyes wild behind the mask, lashing his sword against Adrien’s baton; Father, collapsed against Mum, crying into her ashy hair.
Adrien finds out Gabriel is Hawkmoth, and Gabriel gets to bring his long-waited plan into action.

Space had adventure, intrigue, and glory. And those were all good, don’t get him wrong.
But space didn’t have a view of the sun rising over the Varadero coastline like his childhood bedroom did. Didn’t have the sound of his Abuela singing quietly while sitting out on their porch. Or the swell in his chest that he’d felt when his father sat him down to tell him how proud of him he was for making it into Garrison.
Still, Voltron had the sight of hundreds upon thousand of stars falling outside a window lit up in the soft glow of red. Had Hunk’s surprisingly good cuisine that somehow still managed to remind him of home. And that funny twist in his gut he got when Pidge laughed so hard at one of his jokes milk snorted out of her nose.
So maybe it wasn’t all that bad.
Or, the one where Lance studies psychology, realizes a few things along the way, and finally manages to get himself a girlfriend.
