Summary
In the distance illuminated by the moon, Ryuji sees a face that makes his stomach drop. Atop his steed, Robin, sits the detective, Akechi. A gust of wind sends a tumbleweed rolling in the backdrop, and on the border between real and something else, Ryuji stands, body frozen as he watches the detective approach. Light brown hair rustles in the wind, hat atop his head, sheriff’s badge pinned to his serape. Ryuji’s hands go to his gun as soon as he shakes himself out of his moments stupor, and is incredibly thankful that he decided to wear his mask.

“There’s something about your eyes,” Kitagawa says, and suddenly he’s in front of Akechi, and his mind is screaming too close, too close! “They’re quite beautiful, you know? A stunning red, almost crimson, sometimes so red that I could mistake them for brown. Yet, red, they are, nonetheless, despite what others perceptions may be.”
Akechi’s breath catches in his throat, inhaling too sharply.
“They fit your colour palette so wonderfully, truly. But that’s not it. It’s something about your expression.” Don’t say anything else, “it doesn’t feel authentic, nor natural – and when I picture you in my mind instead of seeing you in front of me, I cannot help but imagine you with an entirely different expression than that of a smile.”
There is something rotting in him and it is going to kill him and if Kitagawa isn’t careful, it is going to kill him too.

Andrew can’t afford to stay sober. Andrew wants his choices back. Andrew turns on the tap, and opens the bottle with shaking hands – not so bad that he will drop the pills, but enough to make him want to vomit (there is no room for weakness, here, not ever). He takes one of them. They’re almost eerily smooth against his fingers, and he pops one into his mouth without thinking too much about it, because as much as he loathes to admit it, it’s just routine. He could do this half asleep. He twists the cap onto his medication back on with a little more force than necessary, and Andrew slams the bottle back down onto the sink counter.
The rattle of the pills is harsh against his ears.

Summary
Veritas opens his eyes and meets the gaze of his husband. Kakavasha stares at him like he’s the only thing in the world, reaching forwards to brush his fingers over the winged man’s face. His fingertips press against Veritas’s skin gently. The scholar hums, allowing himself to indulge and nuzzle his face into the physical touch.
“Mh,” he grumbles. “‘s too early.” Magenta-cyan looks at him lovingly. He can’t get quite used to that stare – even though they’re married, and have been together for quite a long time. It’s so strange, to be adored, to be loved, in every shape, way, and form. Kakavasha truly does adore him, and that’s something he still has trouble coming to terms with.
The ring on his finger says everything. So does the forehead kiss his beloved husband leans in to give him.

There are so many empty rooms I had to learn to pass by, but there is only this much endurance in one person. I don’t think I have any more left, you know? I can’t even write this letter in one sitting. Every few words I have to look up and force myself to stop tearing up so much because right now I don’t know if that letter still has someone to arrive to.
I hope you’re reading this. And that you think how stupid I was for losing faith in you. I’d gladly be stupid. I never wanted anything more than that.
