Summary
Doyoung gulps. There’s no decision to make, obviously, and this is simply a formality, a little show to make him believe he has some semblance of freedom left. “Yes,” he simply answers, afraid that his voice will break.
“Very well,” the King sighs. He looks conflicted, somewhere between regretful and relieved, and Doyoung wants to scream at him, tear at the expensive fabric of his clothes.
But instead, he bows respectfully.

Holy fucking shit. This is one of those rare, incredible times when the ship/premise hooks a reader in, of course, but what really gets me is the plot and world-building. I really appreciate how liberal the author was in including details about the fantastical world they've built, making the politics, international relations, and family dynamics on par with the main relationship itself. This reads like something that could genuinely be published IRL.
From beginning to end, I was enraptured. Nearly forgot about my usual aim in reading fanfic for self-indulgence because I was so invested in the storyline. Amazing characterization of the couple that never strayed far from the stage personas we see. An exciting and sweet progression into true love paralleling professional and family duties. While not tagged, this story is an elegant rendition of Enemies to Friends to Lovers alongside oodles of other classic tropes to swoon over (ugh the inherent arousal of Sword Fights Instead of Actually Communicating), and without skimping on emotional impact to boot.
The sibling relationship between DY and GM might topple my love for the main couple. The brothers are so fucking sweet and loving, I would pay for a companion piece just about these two (seriously.) True soulmates, in every sense of the word. The integration of GM in the story, at the same time being a full-fledged character with his own history, was meaningful and a clear motivation/crutch for DY's character growth. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH.
4 years out since completion, this story is probably my favorite read of 2024. Incredible. Chef's kiss. What a goddamn delight. Regardless of fandom, I can't recommend this enough.

Summary
When Thanatos falls in love with the kingdom's trouble-making crown prince, he is not expecting it will amount to anything more than a passing infatuation. He is also not expecting to be made the prince's bodyguard, and he is certainly not expecting the prince will ever love him back.
Thanatos, it transpires, is wrong about many things.

ALL THE TROPES. I WANT THEM ALL. I'm writing these notes months after first reading and bookmarking this gem of a story, but I distinctly remember just how abso-fucking-lutely pure this was. I'm already an easy sell with Childhood Friends to Lovers, but royalty AU? Fake relationships?? Mutual Pining??? I'm swooning. I'm tipsy on the A+ content. OP snuck into my brain and just...wrote everything I wanted and more.

Keiji can look at a room that hasn’t been inhabited in centuries and tell you exactly how many people lived there, their social status, their occupations, what they ate for breakfast, and a million more trivial details about their ancient lives, but he can’t seem to wrap his mind around Miya Osamu, with his broad shoulders and insufferable ability to get inside his head.

As someone who grew up on the Indiana Jones series and was obsessed with Legends of the Hidden Temple, this work is SUCH a fucking gem, alongside being sharply written and to the point. The author wasn't kidding with the tag describing this as "a little sexy." Tasteful! A+++ title as well.

“Hyunjin?” Seungmin’s voice is soft.
He takes off his sunglasses; now Hyunjin can see his eyes. Hyunjin has always liked Seungmin’s eyes, how sincere his gaze is.
Hyunjin is frozen. “Do you want a different server?”
And here, Seungmin’s mouth flattens into a frown. “No,” he snaps, harsh. “I’m a normal paying customer. Treat me the way you’d treat anyone else.”
[Hyunjin is a part-time waiter; Seungmin is an idol. Seven years later, they meet again on a Wednesday at the Nine & Dine.]

So much love. So much HURT. Jfc. This was spectacular. We need more non-linear narratives that break your soul apart and put it back together!!!

Summary
“Do you ever think,” Changbin begins, brow furrowing. “Do you ever think about if the timing had been different we might have been in the same group?”
Seungmin stares at him. The truth is that, yes, in the deepest of nights when he can’t sleep, he rolls from his side to his back and stares at the ceiling, mind racing with alternate realities where maybe he and Changbin train together, the goal of debut in both their sights. Maybe he and Changbin debut together, harnessing that electric energy between them to perform under the flashing lights. Maybe they raise their first trophy together, sharing a look of triumph from across the stage.
“Let’s face it, hyung,” he says instead, “we probably would have killed each other.”

Absolutely PERFECT slow-build. Incredibly clean rhetoric and relationship dynamic. The charm is that, admittedly, there isn't much of a plot besides the relationship development itself. If you’re ever looking for a model for slow burn dynamics between sort-of enemies to lovers against the backdrop of the idol industry, this is definitely a top tier reference.
No word or scene felt wasted or out of place. Not too much angst, not too much humor. Honestly loved every single second. Also underrated SKZ pairing??? SeungBin has so much potential for a great and interesting relationship, and this fic is an example of why that is.
TL;DR: @everyone, read this god damn fic.

Falling in love works like this: you do it once, and then sometimes you get the chance to do it again.
Or, the laws of astrophysics refuse to let Hyunjin and Felix lose each other.

The psychological and artistic impact this author's writing has had on me cannot be overstated. The prose/figurative language in this is just gorgeous and so vivid, so beautiful, so heart-wrenchingly young. I'm such a fucking sucker for character studies and stories about growing up and learning about love.

Senior year is a really inconvenient time to be having a crisis about your best friend. Here Felix is anyway, hooked on Hyunjin's smile and fully aware that graduation is only months away.

Well. Fuck. That was actually the cutest, most heart-warming and sugar-syrupy thing I have read in AGES. Gorgeous, humorous prose sprinkled with phrases that just absolutely lift up the inner sickly romanticist in everyone. Despite being staged in high school, no character/SKZ member felt too de-aged from how they are in real life. Definitely warrants several rereads. Consider me a Hyunlix fan JUST from this.

this is literally EVERYTHING I wanted in a canon-verse MinWon—pining, HEARTBREAK, more pining, misunderstandings, not enough communication for the sake of friendship, and making up. wow, my heart is so confused in the best way possible.
the DESCRIPTIONS and MINGYU'S THOUGHT PROCESS and oooooh there's just so much hurting and loving and lots of things in-between. there are so many incredible lines in here that I could save for a rainy day, read ten times over, and never feel tired. also loved that the ending isn't with a "bang" but was soft and echoed the title nicely.

One of the most unique applications of a fictional concept. Even the guardians and their names were so thoughtful. And there's also EXQUISITE rhetoric that warrants a definite reread? Love love LOVE.

I don't think I can ever put into accurate phrasing how much this fic, among the others this author has written (now an orphan account; I miss you, dear author 😔) has influenced my writing style, humor, and thematic inclinations.
So simple, so sweet and effective. This couple really marked a significant part of my younger years as a K-pop stan.

Follow-up companion piece to the best piece of fanfiction I have ever laid my eyes on. I have never been so overfilled with domesticity and feelings and just plain, simple, everlasting love before as I do reading this series.

This is absolutely one of the BEST pieces of writing I have ever read—and I read a fuck ton of stuff. Print this out and leave it on my grave when I die so I have something beautiful to read in the afterlife. This is THE non-linear narrative, domestic fic with a forever love we can only dream of writing ourselves. Absolutely gorgeous and a BIG recommend.
A volatile little love that nobody thought would make it.

Adolescence, awkwardness, and young love at its finest. The writing and language as a whole are buttery smooth and executed excellently.
