Summary
~~~~~~~~CURRENTLY ON INDEFINITE HIATUS~~~~~~~~~~
Molly has achieved the best she could ask for-- a fulfilling job, a safe home of her own, an exciting and enriched life, and best of all, a steady source of food.
Food is everywhere, but options are scant, and a young Ghoul can't wish for better than a morgue, where body parts can come in without ever coming back out. It only makes sense that the smartest oaf in the world would nearly ruin everything for her just to be petty.
Summary
734 days. You'd been a prisoner, locked and hidden away in this solitary cell for over two years. Others there had committed petty crimes or made themselves an enemy of the Ultranationalists, and before them— the Soviet Union.
A majority of prisoners hadn't done anything wrong at all, though they were too poor, too educated, or simply too much of a threat to the regime. Anyone could have been in the cell next to yours for any reason. But you? You knew why you were expected to rot away there.
It was either die of disease or malnutrition in your cell, long forgotten by anyone who'd known your name, or be found by either side of the conflict and be killed. Death had called to you for a while; you didn't fear it. And you didn't fear the three, foreign operators when they broke through the door to your prison cell— or when the one with the skull mask held an assault rifle to your head.
Summary
In which Coriolanus Snow is handsomely rewarded for his tribute winning the Games and in turn handsomely rewards his prize, Lucy Gray, herself.
He's gone solemn now in the afterglow, serious. He cares for his own, Snow, she sees that with his family, and now she is one of them. Not his family, but something he owns. His prize, his ward, his girl.
Is she to be his mistress then? she thinks hazily as she slips towards sleep. Is that the future for her? To escape from the viper's den into the viper's mansion?
She shivers and he drags her closer, one large hand tucked around her hip.
Well, she can't escape now even if she wants to, she thinks, sinking into the softness of the plush mattress, burrowing back into the heat and warmth of her jailor.
Summary
“How would you have done it?” A genuine question.
“I wouldn’t have lied,” she said, anger creeping into her voice, causing her to bristle. “I wouldn’t have strung me along for weeks or played with my heart.”
“I wasn’t playing,” he said, and she hated that she wanted to believe him. This time he didn’t bother to soften himself though, as he held her gaze. “I meant everything I said to you.”
She scoffed. But something about the way the warm kitchen light hit him made him particularly handsome, in a way she’d never seen him before. His nose was long and narrow like the rest of him, almost imperceptibly crooked. His muddy green eyes held something, a depth of intelligence she’d seen in so few people, and his little smile was perfectly uneven.
“How would you have done it?” He repeated, more firmly, leaning forward just a smidge, his burgundy tie hanging away from his body.
Summary
⋆⁺₊⋆ 𓃹 ⋆⁺₊⋆
A dark, hooded figure emerged from the dense snowstorm, growing far too tall as it approached. You shuffled back weakly in the bloodstained snow and winced as you jostled the trap clamped on your boot.
“What is this?” the man’s voice rumbled, muffled behind his mask. “You are…not what I expected to catch today.” He crouched and cupped your cheek reverently, as if you were a tiny creature whose delicate bones would snap at a too-rough touch.
You flinched at first — but he was warm, so warm.
“You are very far from home, aren’t you, Kleines Häschen?” he mused, honeyed words drawn out slowly as you relaxed into his palm. “Come, let me tend to your wound. Rest by my fire, just for a little while.”
The man scooped you up from the snow, unresisting. Sleep whispered sweet temptation as you were cradled to his chest, lulled by the blood loss and his steady steps. You gave in to the beckoning darkness, and allowed your heavy lids to close, like he said—
just for a little while.
