A completely intact Time Stone, right here, with the only person on the continent who knew how to use it (and probably the only person still alive who could).
He takes it into his hands reverently, a dying man who has been given an answer to his prayers, a way to change his inescapable ending. A way to change everyone's endings.
Or: In a world where everything goes wrong, Douxie is the one to go back in time instead.

Nine year old Anakin recognizes Palpatine at Qui-Gon's funeral, having seen him at the slave markets on Tatooine and witnessed him using Force lightning. He of course relays this information to Obi-Wan, who, after having a panic attack, comes up with a plan that involves Padme, copious amounts of lying, several failed poisoning attempts (by Palpatine), cringeworthy codenames, a ridiculous sign language made up to humor his drama queen padawan, a secret wedding, at least one faked death, and the performance of a lifetime come Revenge of the Sith.

Summary
Obi-Wan goes missing during a mission near the end of the Clone Wars. When he reappears, he's working with the Separatists.
Anakin refuses to believe Obi-Wan would betray the Republic, and the Jedi Council agree with him. Through footage of one of Obi-Wan's campaigns with the Separatist droids, they discover that he's being mind controlled. Their research suggests that in order to free him, someone he shares a strong bond with must enter his mind through the Force and overpower the mind control.
Anakin chases Obi-Wan to Naboo, where he tries to save him.
It doesn't go as planned.(Spoilers in the tags, but also warnings).

It was almost routine, he mused to himself as a cursing Rex and a cursing-er Kix carefully yet urgently dragged his half-disemboweled body to the relative safety of a nearby boulder.
