This time, he anticipates L’s fight and still gets thrown around in the mud before killing him.

Summary
Are you sure you know what you are? Light somewhat wants to ask. When he notices L stretching, his arch stiff and unevenly sharpened, his gaze slips down L’s body, and, at times, Light feels as starved as L seems.
Do you desire to die?
If you keep putting yourself in others’ way, someone will eat you.

Since Light is a cat, L must be a mouse. Which would explain why he is obsessed with chasing L.

Hands on the keyboard and not straying from sorting through the recently updated training dataset, L inquires as though Light is making half the sense Light thinks he is making, “Who ‘them’, exactly?”
“You,” Light corrects himself, then clears his throat all of a sudden, leans three inches away, lowers his chin and gives a single cough before shoving his chest back at L. “I’ll bring you down.”

The room smells of salt and mint of the tea L recently began associating with tiredness.
“Why would you think I liked you,” Light asks-doesn’t ask, stretched as a conqueror by L’s side.
