Summary
Charlie had never quite worked out what about herself, the person she was becoming, her mother found so offensive. So unlovable.
She’d quickly stopped trying. Had moved her focus to more important things.
Because she soon realised she didn’t need to be loved when she could be respected.
Love was fickle, ephemeral, a delicate guessing game. But respect, that was absolute. If it wasn’t given willingly, it could be drawn from the reluctant depths, a forced acknowledgement of the objective truth. The truth that Charlie was too good to be ignored.

Summary
In the dark privacy of Ice’s room, the phone on the bedside table rang with all the considerate tact of a fry pan to the temple.
Ice jolted like he’d just acquainted himself intimately with a live wire, sheets tangling around his legs as he fumbled for the phone in a sleep scrambled panic. Propped up on one elbow, he nearly dropped it twice as he brought it to his ear, heart thumping viscerally in his chest above a stomach churning like the sea.
“Who. Why.” he demanded hazily, tongue heavy and uncoordinated, mind even more so.
“So when you said anytime, did you mean anytime?”

Summary
She’d been angry when she saw him, livid, screaming cruelty as he ran back to his bedroom to hide beneath the covers. To hide from the monster his mother sometimes became. The only monster he still believed in. The only monster that had ever hurt him.
But it wasn’t always like that. Mostly, it was quiet. Still. Curtains drawn, bedroom dark.

Summary
They rolled up beside the stranger just as he was entering the spotlight glow of the next streetlight.
Or maybe not a stranger.
“Maverick?” The surprise in Sunny’s tone turned the word almost accusatory.
Maverick startled, like he hadn’t even heard them approach, which was concerning in and of itself. He whipped his head around to face them and Sunny’s stomach did something strange and unpleasant.

Summary
1989
It had taken him some time to come around to accepting their spots at teaching TOPGUN. He and Slider wanted to finish out their tour first. And then Slider suggested they go teach, and he saw it as a good opportunity to start his climb up the ranks. He has plans, and he doesn't settle for less than perfection. It's strange, though, being back at Miramar without Maverick. His presence - and Goose's, to some extent - seem to haunt the hallways.
Slider says he's moping.
He is doing no such thing.
Regardless, he'd sent Mitchell a postcard, purely to give him his new mailing address and phone number.

"Mav! No!"
Ice's breath catches in his throat, his gaze locked on the monitors in front of them. Searching for any sign of what might have happened.
"Dagger One is hit! I repeat, Dagger One is hit!"
He's frozen. He's sure his heart has stopped, and he suddenly feels as cold as his callsign implies him to be. Maverick disappears off the screen.

Summary
“What is it?”
The soft way that Ice spoke, kind and understanding, poised to listen, set off a surge of courage through Maverick’s veins.
“Don’t hit me.”
“Why would I—,” Maverick cut off the question by pressing his lips to Ice’s.

Summary
“Tony fucking Stark,” Clint says, and he points at the black smoke. “Did you blow up that base, you piece of shit?”
“Absolutely not. I almost got blown up with it.”
Clint is not alone. A few yards behind him, a scrawny figure halts and squints at Tony from underneath a frayed baseball cap. Sunken eyes. Dressed in a black undershirt and cargo pants.
Can’t be older than eighteen.
“What are you doing here?”
Clint jerks his head at the boy behind him. “SHIELD mission. Extracting a hostage.”
Tony glances back at the teenager, whose face has now morphed into something entirely impassive. “He seems thrilled about his rescue.”
—
Tony is roped into a mission to transport a teenager to safety. But when things go south, it soon becomes more and more puzzling who the teenager is and what ‘safety’ means for him. -

Summary
Peter is fine, anyways. His boss might fire him soon, the Avengers might arrest him soon, the principal might expel him soon, but none of it has happened yet. And his dad—
“You didn’t get my coffee,” his dad says, halfway through his burrito. He has been in a state of low, simmering irritation all evening, and apparently this is how long it took for him to find a reason to blame Peter for it.
“You didn’t tell me to get coffee.”
“Do you have eyes?”
“Yes,” Peter says. “I have eyes.”
“So you could have checked if we needed coffee without me telling you every little thing, Jesus Christ.”
-
Peter just wants to make it to sixteen so he can escape this life and strike out on his own. He has a plan and nothing will ruin it.
Not even Tony Stark quite literally crashing into his life.
