Summary
A long-term ground mission on Hackett’s orders in the wake of the war. Traveling across forgotten wastelands and destroyed communities with just a ground car and Garrus, Shepard can’t help but let exhaustion and frustration get to her. Even on the open road, she’s never felt more trapped. And with the wall she can’t seem to get past between her and Garrus, her usual escape has never felt further away.
It feels like they’re just chasing ghosts—but who knows? As Shepard starts seeing strange things in the dark, maybe it’s more they’re chasing than a not so long ago past.

Some of the best angst out there, and definitely the best angst I've ever read. Definitely recommend. More than once I felt genuinely afraid for Adrien's life!
It is also one of the most aptly-titled fics I've read. 10/10.
