Knelt there, kowtowing until his forehead feels bruised and raw, and the only words that make it out of his mouth are Yuheng, and help me, pay attention to me, and I’m tired. But no god steps out of the shadows and comes to his side. No god comes to hold an umbrella over his head to shelter him from this storm.

Chu Wanning stared at Mo Ran’s outstretched hand for some time, then gingerly placed his hand in Mo Ran’s own. “Chu Wanning.”
The smirk on Mo Ran’s face widened, his dimples becoming more prominent as his mouth stretched. “Nice to meet you, Chu Wanning.”
And then, without hesitation or fear of repercussions, he took Chu Wanning’s hand and brushed his lips over the back of Chu Wanning’s knuckles.
Chu Wanning saw red. His hand jerked back like he had been burnt. “What do you think you’re doing?” he said. His voice cracked a bit towards the end, and the humiliation of it only served to make him angrier as Mo Ran stood there and laughed. '
Like they always say, high school relationships never last long. Chu Wanning is determined to leave the past in the past, and not let it affect his work.

His expression is unguarded, wet hair plastered to pale cheeks, mouth softened as if on the precipice of a gasp, while the livid gleam of the stop light scatters violently red off the slick asphalt, and paints the stranger in a rosy faience.
He’s beautiful.
Mo Ran hasn’t been blessed with the most extensive of vocabularies, and can’t give voice to the purple prose a more talented tongue might offer, but he knows beautiful when he sees it. He’s been staring with unrepentant fascination at this same freeze-frame image for over an hour now, captivated, his cramped bedroom illuminated only by the battered laptop’s fifteen-inch display.
