For just as divine, it felt just as heavy today. Weighted with the test about to be carried out.
“Vessel, in the past you’ve have been told to uphold the protection and safety of both this kingdom and its crown. Until I state otherwise you are to disregard those orders.”
The crowd holds their breath, the knights with weapons drawn ready to spring.
“Vessel, I command you to kill me.”

The Pure Vessel is injured, unable to heal itself due to the extensivity of its injuries the Pale King is forced to close its wounds in the old fashioned way. Unable to dull the pain, He chooses a different way to keep it from lashing out during the surgery.

Summary

Some unknown force has resulted in the disappearance of the Radiance, just before the infection could reach its peak under the Pale King's rule. The mystery soon takes a back-burner to a rearranged custody agreement over Herrah's brood, some clumsy attempts to re-establish marital trust, and some long overdue re-evaluations of the Pure Vessel. The king will send his newly unusable creation to train under the Great Knights, and become their sixth.
Court intrigue, sibling bonding, goddess hunting, different brands of motherhood, and accidental arson are abound.
