This is a fix-it fic for Jason’s death from Nico's POV, written as though it were a follow up book to the Trials of Apollo series. You do not need to have read the Trials of Apollo or The Sun and The Star to enjoy this! It does contain spoilers for both, and sticks to canon (...with a few exceptions for some of the stranger choices in TSATS). I wanted this to be enjoyable for old, new, returning, and continuing fans of PJO. Buckle up! We're bringing Jason back.!! NOW FINISHED !! <3

Nico wishes Jason Grace was here to see this.
Nico stares at the numbers on his cake, still alight. They’re slowly falling, rainbow patterns melting away.
Tears threatening to build from the pressure in his throat, Nico closes his eyes tight— wish in his mind. He lets himself picture it, just for a moment. Jason, standing next to Percy and Annabeth in the crowd. Scruffy faced and baggy under-eyes from his classes, glasses sitting askew and hair grown out. Finally an adult, just like the rest of them. The way they all deserved to be.
And Nico blows out his candles.

Nico wishes on his 21st birthday that Jason could still be with all of them. With Hades and Apollo attending his birthday party, Nico doesn't think about the potential consequences. The next morning, Jason shows up as a ghost, unable to leave Nico's side.
Who will crack first? Will Jason spill the criteria he has to fill in order to go back to the Underworld? Will Nico beg his father to let Jason go back? Or will Will go crazy from not getting to have sex with his boyfriend and burn their house down? (Will's only kidding. ...Maybe.)

Summary
Annabeth doesn’t look him in the eyes when she asks, “Did… someone hurt you? Like that?” There’s a pause over the word someone, like she knows who to place her bets on but doesn’t want to say his name out loud. The sound of it might shatter Percy. Percy has told her about him, knows vaguely of his no-longer existence. Knows what Percy’s mother did in retaliation. The irony of using Medusa’s head to be rid of him is not lost on Percy now that he’s older and understands.
No wonder his mother was always adamant that Medusa was the victim, not the monster, of her own story.
