The tense interruption wormed its way into Shadow's ears with little resistance, because like it or not, the admission was enough to give him pause. It was something that he should've cracked a smirk at. It should've been amusing. But Sonic's tone was enough to set his quills on edge, as it spoke nothing of a bruised ego. Instead, it spoke of finality.
It spoke of 𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘶𝘳𝘦.

Summary
Sonic is totally fine after he returns from the Death Egg and the war is over. Losing his breath and thinking the world isn't real sometimes doesn't mean he isn't fine, not that his friends would understand that. Besides, flowers usually make him feel all better, so it isn't even that bad!
Shadow catches on, though, and he's surprisingly... helpful with the flowers thing. Even when he doesn't need to be.
Now if only he'd stop acting like something is wrong. After all, Sonic is fine

It started small, forgotten details, little things that slipped his mind. Then the memories became blurred, whole days lost. After that came the episodes where he became so unresponsive that he couldn’t move, couldn’t speak. And one day, he couldn’t breathe.
There was something terrifyingly wrong.
His friends could see it happening, worrying more each day. But to Sonic, he had no idea anything was even wrong.

"You got me a talkative bodyguard? Are you serious?"

Summary
Sonic and Tails are more than just best friends. They are brothers, and through every hardship that's been thrown at them, they've gotten through it together. But when Infinite's attack leads to Sonic's imprisonment and Tails believing him dead, holding onto hope becomes impossible. Infinite is planning more than just torture for Sonic. He wants to tear apart his mind until he can't tell illusion from reality, or remember if the young fox is his dearest friend or an enemy trying to kill him.
Tails, meanwhile, refuses to accept that Sonic is dead, and will do anything to get him back. But even if he succeeds, nothing will ever be the same. The war in the outside world continues to destroy everything that the gang holds dear, but when the damage is deep within, how can it ever be rebuilt?
