Summary
Jax is definitely not beating himself up after his argument with Pomni. Why would he, when he's already told her and himself he doesn't care about anyone in the circus? He's determined to keep his actual feelings about the circus members behind the door of his bedroom, all contained to a singular corkboard on his wall.
Pomni is determined to continue being friends with Jax, even after their spat, because she knows he was lying his way through it. She's respecting his space as best as she can, until him ignoring her makes her break entirely. Can she find a way to make them be friends again, and find a way past the walls he's built up around himself?

Jax was barely pushing himself through college, working at a café that his brother used to always take him to. His boss, his coworkers, even his parents had noticed an extreme dip in his mood recently. Jax put up a facade, forcing a bully persona, but they could all see.
He refused to let it down for anyone, and didn’t want to let anyone in. And then a woman who always ordered a bagel started coming in every day.———
Summary: Pomni is bad at feelings and Jax is worse, but hey they have a coffee shop, which we know solves everything (not advice)
