Summary
It was never supposed to go this way.
The dragonet prophecy broke and was torn into pieces, the original dragonets killed by Scarlet before they had a chance to save the world, replaced by the backup dragonets. Burn is dead. Blaze is missing. With the help of the Nightwings, Blister has managed to claw her way into the throne, forming and breaking alliances as needed to gain newfound power. But it is a bloody conclusion. The war is not over, far from it.
It has gotten much worse.
But this is not that story. Not quite.
This story begins before the collapse. The Rainwings, led by their newest Queen, have recently sought contact with the outside world, adding a new player into the chess game that is the war of the Sandwing Succession. The dragon most excited by this is Princess Anemone, who now has the opportunity for her secret Rainwing girlfriend to not be so much of a secret anymore. She's not sure how her mother will react, but she plans on telling her on the day when the Rainwing delegates, including the current queen, will come to share a meal with the Seawing Kingdom and talk about the possibility of future relations between the two tribes.
It is on that day when everything goes wrong. -

They all watched him fall— The funny, comic relief character. How ironic was that? The one who told jokes with a beaming smile now hid amongst pillows with sorrow.
They were probably laughing at him outside of the pillowfort, Jax decided with a scoff, squinting at the light coming out of the pillowfort. Somebody must’ve forgotten to cover the entrance.
Whatever.
Jax looked down, feeling the familiar yet odd glitchness of his animalistic limbs, his multiple eyes opening and closing— arrays of colour filling the corners of his vision, reminding him of the depiction of people being high.
It was rare to think, Jax had come to terms with that. The abstraction was like a mind of its own, commanding for blood and violence in an animalistic tone.
And all he could really do was wait for that opening, wait for the cage to creak open ever so slightly so he could feel human again, even if it was never noticeable by whoever was around him.---
