Akito stops a few meters from the main road and turns to him. The strings of his hoodie whip around with sudden motion, orange hair haloed by the light leaking into the dark side street. "Hey, Toya," he says, then pauses, his eyes jerking away. His lips twist oddly a few times, and he shoves his hands in his pockets. "D'you—?" He clears his throat, voice lower. "What're you doin'? After this?"
Toya blinks. His mind stutters over the answer he's used to giving, reminded half a beat late his nights aren't spent on classical music anymore. His empty schedule stretches out endlessly into the night, a familiar song suddenly stopped midway through, and he still reels from it all these weeks later.
"I'm not sure," he answers slowly.
"Then you wanna walk around a bit before you head home? Stop anywhere that looks interestin'?"

Toya was tired.
Tired of playing the violin until his fingers bled. Tired of enduring the threats and the insults from his father and tutors. But, first and foremost, he was tired of pretending he was okay with it all.
Things changed when his father brought him to Kamakura for a recital. Leading up to it, he was forced to endure gruelling practice session after practice session. So, every evening, he snuck to the beach and played before the waves to vent his unspoken frustration.
