Summary
For as long as I could remember, Wuqing was there. I couldn’t remember when I first met that timid boy, the one who was scared of frogs and hurriedly raised his hand to answer whenever the teacher asked questions in class, but my fondest memories of school involved the comforting creak of his wheelchair, or the sound of his quiet voice reciting poetry to the trees in the back courtyard where he thought no one would hear. Because of his persisting loyalty, I never once doubted we would be together always, walking side by side through this mortal world. Even when he left the mountain to find his own way, I knew we would never be apart for long.
The river of time always led us to our own paths, but would always inevitably bring us back together in the end. Forever parting, forever reuniting, a constant cycle of ebb and flow. In this way, I knew the future only held good things for me. Even with the threat of the gu poison hanging over my head, at least I had Wuqing by my side.
There was nothing I believed in the world more than that.

Summary
The first time it happens, it’s just a kiss on the cheek, so Lu Guang isn’t even sure that it counts. It’s while he’s trying to prepare dinner for them; Qiao Ling brought back vegetables from the market, and he’s busy chopping scallions. He’s a good cook when he needs to be, which means that Cheng Xiaoshi rummaging through the cabinets in search of extra condiments to pour into his work is both unnecessary and a little insulting.
The knife is still in Lu Guang’s hand when he feels arms wrapping around his waist from behind. A bony chin descends onto his shoulder.
“Idiot,” Lu Guang accuses. “I’m holding a knife.”
“Okay.” Cheng Xiaoshi exhales next to his ear, but he doesn’t let go. “We don’t have any chili oil.”

Summary
There’s nothing wrong with how Cheng Xiaoshi chooses to display his affection, really, it’s just that Lu Guang is overwhelmed and also a little terrified by the mere intensity of it. Qiao Ling doesn’t even seem to notice that anything’s changed, so maybe he’s the one being weird about it at all.
Or: Cheng Xiaoshi is showing symptoms of being in love and Lu Guang doesn’t know what to do with himself.
