Summary
All Joel expects of his reckless behavior is that he’ll die, not that he’ll meet a cute, honest guy in the middle of the night, just so they can watch the stars together.

Summary
“Oh, sue me, he’s hot and I’m bored. Last time I checked, that’s not a crime!” Joel attempted to defend himself even when he knew he was fighting a losing battle.
“You sure are acting like it is. Just go talk to him. What’ve you got to lose?” Mumbo piped up.
“Well, my dignity for starters.”
A mischievous smile spread across Grian’s features. “Can't lose something you never had.”
Joel swatted Grian upside the head, which only earned him a fit of giggles from both of the other men and a slightly aching hand. “I thought you were trying to play wingman.”
Grian turned to Mumbo, residue of laughter still clinging to his voice, “Twenty bucks says he won’t—”
“Done,” Joel jumped in.Or
Joel's bored to tears with his life in the Valley. When a mysterious new man moves into Pelican Town, he seems like the perfect solution to all of Joel's plights. The only problem? He barely ever comes around.
(5 times Joel pines over Etho, and 1 time he actually does something about it).

Summary
Joel's head had suddenly begun to pound, worse than ever before in his life, enough to make his ears ring and cause him to press his hands to his head. Then, ever-so-slowly, one by one, eyes began to blink open. All around him, different sizes, not connected to anything that he can see, simply just... blinking into existence out of thin air. And every single one of them had been staring at him.
I should probably, he remembers thinking, feel more scared than I do.
"...Hi," he had said instead, coughing awkwardly to clear his throat. "I — uh... I like your eyes."
And the rest, as they say, was history.
