“It took me two-hundred-and-fifty years after losing my wife to invent a machine that allowed us to travel back from the future to save her,” Anastasia said once she’d managed to steel herself against her emotions. “We only meant to travel back to the night that she died but something went wrong and we wound up landing here twenty-six years ago now— our machine was broken beyond repair without modern technology and she was only four years old in the time that we arrived… so we’ve had no option but to bide our time and create lives for ourselves here.”
