Summary
When the circus members shouted at Caine to distract him while Kinger tried to calm him down by modify parameters in his code, they never expected the consequences. Hurted by months of complaints, and convinced that everything he had ever done had been meaningless, in that moment of rage, he tormented them. He tormented them with their deepest fears, and their most painful experiences. When he finished and brought them back, all he could do was ask them why they insisted on tormenting him. He never asked to be created. He only wanted to fulfill that purpose. But mid-sentence, he realized. And one question came to his mind: "What am I doing?"
Then, just as he began to realize what he had done, a mistake changed everything.
One misclick.
Kinger accidentally altered Caine's code. The result was far worse than anyone could have imagined.
