It’s a pattern Derek has been living for a long time. As the lighthouse keeper, part of his role is to be the voice over the radio, telling the fire lookout everything they need to know. He’s gotten used to the pattern. First meetings, last meetings, repeat.
With a new season starting, he doesn’t see why anything will change.

Derek grabs him by the face, looking into his eyes. Avery let out a small squeak. “Avery.” He said quietly. “That’s not a child. That’s the King in Yellow.”
Avery freezes. Slowly, painfully, he turns his head back to the child in the onesie. There’s something about those eyes. Familiar. He only saw them once but… there had been quite a lot of them. A bit unforgettable.

All he has to do is follow these steps, and they should be friends in no time, as the book says!
Shadow Milk, for his part, is thrown by his counterpart suddenly flipping the script and trying to woo him.

Avery has taken a job as a Fire Lookout during wildfire season on a nice, secluded island, and it's great! Friendly people, stunning nature, a colleague who works in the lighthouse who clearly cares enough to talk Avery through the first night on the job-
It's pretty great, if you look past The Horrors.
Unfortunately, said Horrors are quite persistent.

Avid's been acting strange since he joined the castle, so Shelby pulls Avid away for a little chat.

“Let’s find somewhere private. Follow me.” Shelby fell into her bat form—shadowy simulacrum fluttering where she once stood—and rose out of the castle’s foyer into open air.
Avid hurried to join her, skipping a couple enthusiastic steps forward before he managed to transform himself.
Shelby’s hollow tree trunk wasn’t as secret as she’d thought and if no one else had told Avid about the castle’s secret tunnel, she wasn’t going to be the one to reveal it. She darted higher in the sky as she deliberated, Avid giggling behind her, and she spotted a cliff at the edge of the pale woods. Good enough.

Owen threw him a bundle of wrappings, “Fix your own damn neck for all I care.”
Avid took them gratefully, sitting to be better steadied. His hands still shook as he wrapped his neck, wincing in pain as the cloth brushed the scratches. Three. That was more than he’d had the first time. He’d just had the one.
“Why did you help me?” Avid asked quietly, fidgeting with his collar, the pain was rapidly becoming background noise in his mind. It still hurt, it never stopped hurting.
“You’re the one person here.”
“That doesn’t answer it, Owen.”

“Discussing possible reasons why Tau Ceti is not infected while other stars are,” Eva replied deftly. “I would invite you to join, but we were just finishing—”
“Oh, that’s easy.” His hand twisted a knob, and the notes came out sharper. “It is infected—Petrova Line and everything.”
In Grace's opinion, dreaming about time traveling is no excuse for getting out of practice with his Eridian. To the rest of the Petrova Taskforce, it seems a bit odd that their resident Astrophage expert has suddenly taken to carrying a keyboard around and playing it whenever he speaks. Eva Stratt resolves to figure out what is going on.

Summary
Wemmbu dies to Flame’s sword during their rematch. Dying in a hardcore server is—of course—permanent, so he doesn’t expect to open his eyes ever again.
But he does.
He wakes up in an entirely different world. One ruled by heroes, villains, and vigilantes alike. A place governed by systems and organizations so intricate they run deeper than anything he has ever known. The people here are familiar in the worst possible way: faces he recognizes, now hidden behind masks and titles.
Through it all, Wemmbu has only one goal. He needs to find a way back to Unstable SMP.
The question is whether this world—and the people who claim him—will ever let him leave.
