Summary
The fact that Ignis couldn’t answer him straight away told Gladio everything he needed to know. He plunged his hand into the front pocket of his hoodie and pulled out a Ziploc bag. “I made you some encouragement cookies.”
Ignis’ eyes opened wide in surprise and he glanced around in alarm.
“You brought food? Into a library?” he hissed as if it was a big scandal.
“For you to eat because I knew you wouldn’t have eaten anything.”
“But… it’s a library…” Gladio could see that Ignis was struggling to choose between his head and his stomach.

If Gladio didn’t know any better he’d say Ignis was flirting with him. Ignis ‘all-work-and-no-play’ Scientia, flirting. With him. Gladiolus ‘I’m-not-flirting-I’m-just-being-friendly’ Amicitia. The first few times it happened Gladio had put it down to friendliness. Being thrust into the wilderness with a common goal in mind tended to bring people closer together.

Prompto sighed. His father had a saying; say something now before you run out of time, or regret never saying anything. “I…” he trailed off, fingers returning to the silver inlay of his jacket. “Do you ever have the urge to say something just because you’ll know you’ll regret it if you don’t say it? But then…” he continued with nary a breath, leaving no room for Noctis to actually answer his question. “…you don’t have the courage to actually say what you want to be said and the time runs out and you live the rest of your life in regret because you didn’t say what you want to say in the first place.” He took a shuddering breath, his worlds just rolling out in one long air.

Coming home like this, to this sort of domestic bliss was everything Gladio had ever wanted in life and more. There had been times where he thought it wasn’t going to happen. The fall of Insomnia, the road trip, facing Gilgamesh, almost losing Ignis in Altissia, the ten years of darkness. But despite their faults, their trials and tribulations, Gladio was at the point where he could say he was happy.

Clarus agrees and so Gladio has a couple of days to find the woman of his dreams. Luckily Ignis is on hand to stall and play boyfriend whilst he does.
