This isn't even touching the fact that the person he DOES find himself drawn to, Itadori Yuuji, is his cousin's soulmate.

Megumi can no longer sleep alone. The darkness that comes with the shift from evening to night makes him nauseous, especially if he’s on his own.
His first night back on campus has quickly turned into a disaster. His room, blackened by shadows that turned the walls to ink, felt far too familiar for his taste; a pitch-black void of nothingness to surround him as he remained confined inside his own body.
Itadori found him collapsed on his bedroom floor, trembling.
“I know, I know,” he murmured as he ran a comforting hand down Megumi’s back. “He always makes it too dark.”

Yuuji's eyes soften. “Okay.” He says, and pulls Megumi close. A sweet kiss presses itself into the seam of his mouth, thick with summer.

Summary
He lets himself get a little lost in the way Yuuji drags his finger over his back, the gentle heat of his body seeping into Megumi’s where he sits next to him, and the subtle fragrance of his body wash. It’s nice, comforting, a balm to his sore soul in the wake of exposed wounds. After a while his replies gradually grow quieter, the silences between them lasting longer as his eyelids become heavier. Still, Yuuji makes no move to leave.
Distantly, he’s aware of the lamp being turned off but Yuuji’s hand never leaves his back. He continues tracing words over his shirt, and Megumi keeps translating them, albeit more in his mind than aloud at this point. He’s just about to give into sleep again when Yuuji traces a different kanji into his spine.
He thinks he’s imagined it, exhaustion playing tricks on him, until Yuuji writes it again. And again. Repeats it, until it’s unmistakable what he’s sharing.
I like you.

This is absolutely the wrong thing to say. If anything, Toudou seems even more shattered than before. He wanders away wordlessly in a daze.

Sukuna grins, his mouth stretched unnaturally wide across his face. “You really thought the King of Curses could be bound by human flesh?” He tips his head upwards, cackling, then throws Megumi aside. Megumi stumbles, falling backwards into the water. He hates that Sukuna is wearing his face, hates how it’s just wrong enough to make his skin crawl.
“I was biding my time,” he explains. “Anyone paying attention could tell the day you snapped was fast approaching, and you made it so easy for me to watch you.” He appears standing over Megumi, cruel glee shining in his expression. “If you’d been able to stay away from that brat, maybe your imminent destruction wouldn’t have been so glaringly obvious. But no. You fell in love with him.”
Megumi swallows thickly.
“Love is a curse, right?” Sukuna leans down, eyes boring into what is left of Megumi’s soul. “And yet, you could never avoid it.”
megumi's soul shatters, and the pieces are full of love.

Now, NOW, this is the elite! The best post 212 fanfic I've ever read. The whole build is great, the grammar impeccable, and Megumi's own sadness is very real. If I had to see something like 100% canon, it would be this fanfic. Fushiguro is great here and his relationships with the other characters are very well crafted. And the ending????? The ending is the icing on the cake.
My favorite part: Fushiguro talking back to Sukuna while Itadori is asleep (he literally called the king of curses weak).
My favorite line: "I love him." "Should've said it sooner." Perfection.
