Summary
Named the Last Dragonlord as his birthright, Merlin knows he must be responsible to his fellow druids and honor the tenets of the prophecy. That doesn't mean he's entirely happy about it and of course, trudging through yet another year of ritual with yet another potential consort, Merlin's perhaps grown a bit too blasé about the whole thing. So when Arthur Pendragon shows up in the Valley of the Fallen Kings, and they're both swept up in the auspices of said prophecy, he's not entirely sure how to feel about it all (or about the handsome, arrogant prince).

Summary
If serving Arthur was Merlin's destiny, then why was Morgana the one he felt inexorably drawn to?
Every time his thoughts followed this trail, he felt the press of the dragon’s prophecy, the beast's rasping words so potent it was as if they were etched into his skin like scales. Arthur was the one he was meant to serve. Arthur was the one who would make it safe for magic users to thrive once again in Camelot.
So why was it Morgana he couldn’t help but fixate on?

OR A Morgana-centric BBC Merlin rewrite in which Merlin doesn't blindly listen to Gaius and finds connection with Morgana amongst the dangers of Uther's court. Burdened by destiny but hounded by desire, Merlin navigates the treacherous path of fate. Morgana attempts to walk the righteous road but makes difficult, and often bad, choices in her quest for a just world.

Summary
When 8 year old Merlin is given as a sex slave to an unwilling 13 year old Prince Arthur, Merlin thinks it's not so bad, since Arthur is kind and only uses him when he absolutely has to. However, when Arthur gets a little older, something changes in him, and the Prince can no longer hold himself back from using Merlin as often as possible.
Through it all, a confused, terrified, and emotionally stunted Merlin struggles to come to terms with his (very extreme) internalized homophobia when he discovers that he is continuously aroused by what Arthur, who is also his best friend, forces upon him. Loving Arthur too much to hate him, Merlin focuses the hate and rage on to himself, at the same time also denying to himself that he has any romantic feelings for Arthur at all.
