Sally Jackson-Blofis is dead, killed by a drunk driver whilst walking home on a conventional Thursday afternoon. Only it wasn’t conventional, not for Percy, not anymore. So, with New York holding too many memories, and camp walking on eggshells around him, Percy heads down to Atlantis where he can hopefully grieve in peace.

So, instead of deciding to re-do his childhood But Better, he decides that this whole Mortal Hero thing is just NOT for him. The therapy, the attempts to manage his PTSD, it’s not really working, and this is the case in point. What on Earth was he thinking, fleeing to Alaska? As if the lack of gods here would make Percy safe to be in a ten-mile radius of anytime he has a panic attack.
