Summary
Not quite sixteen, Kiyoomi walks into his first All-Japan Youth Training Camp with an immune system too weak for the bouquet of pathogens that is Miya Atsumu. He makes the grave mistake of not hating him at first sight but he’s ready to remedy that and hate him at his second: he reins in his blood, muzzles his pulse, and fakes indifference.
“Ya never let anyone touch ya,” Miya complains after three days of training.
“I never will,” Kiyoomi says and it’s a promise he intends to keep.

“Is everything alright?” Tobio demands the next morning, when they’re making breakfast together.
Hinata blinks at him over the rice cooker. “… Yes?” he tries, looking extremely confused.
“You’re playing volleyball in your sleep,” Tobio states, deciding to just dive right into heart of that matter.
Hinata stares at him. The rice cooker beeps, and he presses the button to pop open the lid without breaking his gaze. There’s a long period of silence while the smell of freshly cooked rice fills the flat and the gears in Hinata’s head visibly turn.
“That’s kind of cool, actually,” is what he decides on, once he’s finished thinking.
Tobio nearly flings a spatula at him.

Ginger gives him a strange look before snorting loudly. “God, you’re weird,” he says, voice shaking with barely suppressed laughter. “Do you normally harass people for games and ask them bizarre questions, or am I just special?”
Tobio feels a strange urge to punch him and stalk away, but he refrains.
“I need to join a beach volleyball game for… practice,” Tobio grits out eventually, getting back on topic. He can’t let his temper blow this opportunity – the chances of him finding another random Japanese speaker playing beach volleyball are likely to be slim. “Our coach sent us here.”
“Practice? For indoor?” Ginger asks, but he has the decency to look intrigued, pulling his cap back on and rubbing his chin thoughtfully. “To like, transfer skills and stuff?”
“Something like that,” Tobio shrugs. “So can I join or what?”
