Summary
Two years ago, Feng Xin learnt precisely why Mu Qing hates Christmas. Sure, he had an admittedly decent Christmas that year, and last year too, but this year, Mu Qing has frankly had a shit few months — from university going downhill to embarrassing himself in front of his friends at his birthday a couple of months back. He tries to make plans, but when his mother ends up in hospital and the plans fall through, he’s left with two options: stay alone, or go to Feng Xin’s family.
An argument ensues, Mu Qing says and does things he really doesn’t mean, if it wasn’t for feeling horrible in the first place. This year, his Christmas is frankly shit. Not this time, but perhaps one day in the future, he can hope to heal; surely things can’t get much worse, right?

“Uh, I made you ginger congee. I assume you haven’t eaten recently.” Feng Xin nudges the bowl across the table so it’s a little closer to Mu Qing, eyes flitting back and forth between him and the food. “Also I made peppermint tea if you want some afterwards. And I threw away your half-cooked eggs, which was disgusting by the way, they were stuck to the pan—”
Knowing that Feng Xin rambles when he’s nervous and won’t stop once he gets going, Mu Qing snaps, “What are you doing back here?”
Feng Xin’s head jerks up, brows furrowing angrily. “Fuck, just shut up and let someone take care of you for once. Eat your fucking congee.”
(Or: Mu Qing is sick and Feng Xin takes care of him. Lots of feelings and emotions ensue.)
