Summary
Or, five times the Mandalorian kept his helmet on, and one time he had to bend the rules.
--
"What's your name?" she asks. "I'm Sam, and that's Ma Eyla taking care of your friend," she adds."I'm Mandalorian," he says.
"That's a strange name."
"It's not a name," the boy says, sounding impatient.
Sam wraps her arms around her legs and goes back to silently scrutinizing every square inch of the strange boy. He may not be a child, exactly, but he can't be that much older than her. Thirteen or fourteen at the most. If she could hear his voice properly then maybe she could guess better.
"Aren't you going to take that off?" she asks, looking at his helmet.
"No," he replies.
"Why?"
"This is the way."

Summary
Bruce has failed his sons. Spectacularly.
They say the first step to fixing a problem is admitting you have one. For Bruce, that means admitting he's terrified of losing his children, and that his way of showing it has been to push them all away.
He let his fear speak for him. He let his grief build walls. And after a catastrophic argument driven by that fear, he's left with a son bleeding out in Crime Alley, another who won't even look at him, and two younger boys who slowly watched their father become a stranger.
There's no easy fix for this. No mission parameters to follow. To even begin to mend what he's broken, Bruce must do the one thing he's worst at: he must talk. He must apologize. And he must finally, finally learn that love isn't a strategy—it's a choice you make, over and over again, even when it hurts.
Or: Bruce Wayne's Guide to Fucking Up Your Kids and (Hopefully) Learning to Fix It.

Summary
"Fine. Get back upstairs,” Bruce said, voice like gravel. “And you will write me an essay. Three pages. Handwritten. Titled Emotional Volatility and the Importance of Keeping Your Hands to Yourself.”
Only Batman could say a sentence like that with a straight face. Only a Robin could flinch like he’d been punched hearing it.
“ Due by tomorrow. Before breakfast. “
Jason nodded.
Subtle. Slight. But a nod.
Aka: Jason’s on bed rest. Bruce is done being patient. One of them is about to lose.
