Summary
Riku never wanted to be the charming lead of a romantic comedy. But lately, his life feels like a twisted, cynical parody of one where his closest friends keep gravitating toward him like he’s some irresistible center of the universe, blindsiding him with confessions he never asked for.
Already suffocating beneath the weight of guilt and the exhausting task of trying to preserve friendships that seem to keep crumbling in his hands, one sudden, unexpected confession finally pushes him over the edge. Desperate to escape the mess of his own life, Riku agrees to a spontaneous beach house getaway, hoping a few drinks and a change of scenery might dull the noise in his head.
But somewhere in the drunken chaos of the night, the boundaries he’s spent so long protecting begin to blur. Pulled into an entirely different, unexpected orbit, Riku is left facing a terrifying realization in the quiet aftermath of the night: this time, he’s the one who fell. “…No! Just-“ Riku looked around the room, anywhere but Yushi’s eyes, as if the walls could give him any resolve to his immediate pliability. He felt weak, suddenly thankful for the chair beneath him. His whole body tingled as Yushi continued to stare at him, smiling fondly at the mess he’s created.
“You’re holding your breath, baby.” Yushi whispered, their faces only inches away.
Or; Riku tries to help Yushi study for their test tomorrow and Yushi can’t help but enjoy making his boyfriend shy.

Summary
He smiles, and for the first time, it doesn’t carry any mirth. It’s genuine, sincere, and… pretty. Yushi feels pride bloom in his chest for no particular reason other than the fact that he’s the reason for that smile. He’s crazy. He’s actually, positively lost it.
“I can’t believe I’m asking this, but… d’you wanna get out of here?.”
Or, it's highly unadvisable that Yushi follows the boy that broke into his house down into the Undercity. He does it anyway.

“What are you doing here Yushi?” Riku asks, voice tinged with exhaustion.
“Couldn’t sleep.”
Riku lets out a breath that sounds more like a soft scoff at that. He turns on the lamp by his bedside table, the one Yushi gifted for him for Christmas last year. Orange light instantly glows at his face. Riku’s hair is in disheveled state like he ran a hand through it plenty of times, there’s dark bags sitting under his eyes, adding more tiredness to his face.
He’s handsome even when he’s a mess.

Riku definitely didn't expect that answer, given how his grip tightens on his tray, maybe to ground himself or something, Yushi's not the best at reading body language.
"I just wanted to sit with you?…" he replies, tone uncertain.
"I've been at this company for two years and you never sat with me. You don't have to pretend you want to be here just because you saw me cry yesterday."
"That's not what this is about…"
"Then?"
"I'm going to sit here."
or; yushi thinks no one really sees him. riku proves him wrong.

Yushi watches in horror as Sion's lips smash against Riku's. They both splutter back in surprise.
"Did you guys just kiss?" Ryo yells in disgust. Sakuya is also wearing a face of repugnance and Yushi feels something twist in his chest, ugly and thorny.
"Uh…" Riku blinks in disbelief.
"It was an accident," Sion manages out. "It doesn't mean anything." His ears are incredibly red.
Riku nods his head. "Yeah, an accident, it can happen, its okay."
It's not but Yushi doesn't voice that opinion out loud.
(or 5 times Yushi witnesses Riku kiss a Wish member, 1 time he gets a kiss of his own (plus the failed attempts along the way))

Yushi's life is fine; for all intents and purposes, he still exists. He's still Yushi.
He just isn't as happy as he could be, and that kills Riku. He won't allow himself to realize it, and that's killing himself, which is the worst thing Yushi could ever do next to telling Riku he isn't cute.
But it's okay. None of this calls for the end of the world, not when Riku can still fix things.
It's just… sometimes birds have to be pushed out of their nests to fly.

“Even our own sons don’t take care of the house like you do, Riku-chan,” his mother says, reaching up to pinch Riku’s cheek. Her husband hums in agreement, patting Riku on the back and offering to buy Riku some desserts soon.
The thought of Riku being the perfect son that his parents have always wanted has crossed his mind more times than he can count and now that he’s living in their home it’s glaringly obvious. They praise him as if he’s their son—they adore him as if he’s their son. Riku thrives under the attention. Yushi watches him; the way Riku ducks his head down with a reddened face. He lets out a laugh that’s more like a giggle and it has Yushi feeling sick to his stomach.
“That’s not true,” Riku shakes his head, “Everyone does their share around the house. I just wanted to help out a little more since Auntie refused to let me pay rent.”
And there it is—Riku with the perfect, humble response. Yushi balls up his fists and goes back to his room.
For years the name Maeda Riku has brought a wave of anxiety over Yushi. And then Riku moves into the Tokuno family home and Yushi spirals.
