Summary
Slowly, clumsily, Grace’s hand traveled from its place in Simon’s hair down to his unmarred cheek. His fingers breezed over his skin, tracing little lines and shapes. They drifted down, ghosting over his jaw and brushing against his stubble. With a touch so gentle and delicate Simon found it impossible to turn away, Grace slowly, carefully, guided his head closer to his.
Their faces were close. Very close. Like a brush had powdered across his cheeks, Grace’s face was dusted red, a shade too dark to just be from intoxication. Simon’s own face was beginning to burn, from the tops of his ears to the apples of his cheeks. Grace stared up at him, his sky blue eyes swirling with clouds, distant and calculating, as they fluttered across Simon’s face. They came to a rest at his lips, then flickered back up to Simon’s eyes, then back down again.
“C’n—“ Grace worked his mouth, as if gathering his words. “Can I kiss you?”

Summary
Rocky could hear a low thrum through the Hail Mary, but there was no source no matter how he clicked or hummed, trying to keep himself quiet to not disturb Grace or Simon's sleep.
Then Simon began to jerk in his sleep, pleas and 'no's falling from his lips as the humming deepened, and quiet hissing words began to echo through the ship.
Rocky stiffened and growled dangerously.
Simon was under attack.
Rocky would protect.

Bookmarker's Notes
"What is this??" he heard it mutter, bouncing off his thrum again, trying to get at Simon. Rocky growled deeper, reinforcing his shield with a second note, still too low to wake Grace or Simon, but enough to help confuse and weaken the creature.

The day Ryland Grace proves the Carl Hypothesis and discovers how to breed Astrophage, a probe is spotted in the outer regions of the solar system. When it's recovered, the words TO SOLVE ASTROPHAGE PROBLEM are found written on the outside, and below that is written in slightly smaller text, Deliver to Ryland Grace.
Grace, unfortunately, has no idea what's going on.

"Leaky, leaky, leaky." Rocky's voice is warm, with as many affectionate undertones as he can cram in, and Grace laughs and curls himself around Rocky a little more, and everything in the world is okay.
Grace is here. Rocky is home.
He doesn't need anything else.

Summary
Simon's changed a lot, both in the SM-13 and in the time since his rescue, and some of those changes are unsettling. He asks Grace if he can take a look inside him and see just how much he's changed.
Grace is still a scientist. If Simon really wants to be vivisected, well...

Bookmarker's Notes
"Okay. I’m gonna…I can see your heart,” Grace whispers. There’s a wet sound, a soft oh from Grace, and then his fingers are wrapped around Simon’s heart. He can feel it pulsating, the gentle grip feeling tighter every time his heart expands. “Oh, Simon. No, no, it’s okay, don’t cry. It’s beautiful, okay? It’s so, so beautiful.”
Is he crying again? He doesn’t mean to. If he could speak he would tell Grace that this is the safest he’s ever felt in his life.
