"You don't have to play nice. I will kill you the moment I get the chance to in the arena," Akutagawa retorts coldly.
Atsushi lets out a dry laugh, trying to ease the tension in the air. "I can guarantee you, I won't hold back either. Still, it doesn't hurt to be friendly while we still can. No need to be so prickly." He raises his arms in a defensive gesture.

Akutagawa knows that his chances of winning the 74th Hunger Games as a scrawny, malnourished Tribute from District 12 are slim to none. Still—he will do everything in his power to win the Games and return to his younger sister Gin for whom he volunteered.
