Summary
Princess Shuri didn't believe in the ancestral plane. She thought it was a figment of the imagination, a trick produced by the mind to help new panthers deal with the excruciating effects of the herb as their bodies transformed. But when she takes the newly synthesized heart-shaped herb, she is greeted by familiar and unfamiliar faces that change her perspective entirely.
She only hoped that it was in time to save her people from impending war and protect the love that would one day unite the two most powerful nations.

For the first time, Namor could not meet her gaze. He stared at his wrist, the beads clashing with his gold bracers. “Thank you for this.”
Shuri frowned. “It’s just a bracelet. A way to contact me that isn’t beach litter.” If she was honest with herself, she didn’t have to give him her mother’s old beads, but it felt… poetic. A reminder to him of everything she was doing for him and his people despite what he’d taken from her.
“It’s not just a bracelet.”

As the king of Talokan, his people depends on him and his strength, he will do what it takes. What he did not expect is that the promised partnership would be from a surface-dweller who also happens to be at the brink of being pushed into an arranged marriage.

Summary
Erik did not make a habit of cataloging all of Namor’s expressions. From what he’d seen, the man’s emotive inventory ran from polite stoicism to angry stoicism with little variation in between. The only time he seemed to be feeling otherwise was when he spent time with Shuri. And even then, he was guarded. (Though, Erik thought, his body language was fluent in tongues his mouth was not.)
However, Erik had never seen this expression before.
If Erik had to be nice about it, he would say that Namor was looking at Shuri as though she’d hung the stars in the sky.
But, Erik was not nice, so he thought that Namor looked rather dumb. The man appeared slack-jawed, with a face that suggested he’d recently been electrocuted.

As punishment for his past indiscretions—murder, unlawful trespass, giving Shuri terrible life advice—Erik has been reincarnated into a cat. However, he won’t let this injustice stand and chooses to take his anger out on Shuri, who is in the midst of alliance negotiations (and maybe a little more) with Namor.

A memory of flames licking at the pillars of the throne room on the ancestral plane, N’Jadaka’s mouth curled in a mocking sneer, filled Shuri’s memory. Fire and earth. “You were happy to die at my hands,” she echoed, the skin on her arms pebbling as a shiver ran through her.
“Yes. But I only wished for one thing, and I had not gotten it before my death. So I was glad you showed mercy in the end.”
“And what did you wish for?” Shuri asked, advancing on him from the bed. “Your people swimming up the river to break Wakanda’s borders? An empire of blood against all other nations in the world?”
“I wished,” said Namor very quietly, watching her and not moving, “to hear you say my name.”

Shuri, who has given up the throne of Wakanda, has a lot of time to think in Haiti about the future of Wakanda. Fortunately, someone else is more than happy to offer some assistance, but when new developments arise, she and Namor of Talokan must forge a tentative alliance while navigating a more treacherous sea than either of them expected.

After sparing Namor’s life, the need for revenge that once drove Shuri forward is gone, leaving her listless and with a void that would take years to fill.
M'Baku holds the throne until T'Challa and Nakia's son is ready. For the first time in her life, she has nowhere to go, nowhere where she was needed. Aimless and lost, she spends lonely months in Haiti until a new threat pulls her back into the political arena and trapped in Talokan once again.
Post-Wakanda Forever. Eventual Namor/Shuri.
