Floyd gets that, sometimes you need to cut the past off completely to move ahead. Flag's not taking it so well. Any other time Floyd'd keep out of it and let time do its thing, but they're stuck in Perth surrounded by crab-men (man-crabs?) and they could really use the full attention of their squad leader right now.

Tonight was already packed with unpleasant excitement, he wasn't going to stoop as low as allowing himself a pub therapy after the previous spectacle. He counted the exact amount of cash and set his glass over it. That ought to be clear enough.
Now, the man finally got it. He had the decency to raise his glass as a kind of acknowledgement. Reynauld nodded at him with polite disdain and walked out without looking back.

When he wakes up in a clean bed in what he later will learn is a sanatorium, he finds a pair of flintlocks and a rose quartz rosary lying on the night stand next to him, meaning they're probably his.
Not that he has the slightest idea where he is, or how he got here in first place.
As he tries to gather himself, a group of people wearing unfamiliar faces enters the room. They crowd around his bed and ask questions, but when he has no answers it is them who tell him that he was lost to them for nigh half a year, dead and buried, mourned, and now brought back to life by a miracle of the Light.
They tell him this place is called the Hamlet, and that his own name is Dismas.

The man who was owning the majority of Max's thoughts and was starting to become the bane of Max's existence.

Max froze at hearing those words. Then his grip on the doorhandle tightened.
