It starts small a caught wrist, a quiet rooftop, a moment in the middle of a mission where everything goes loud and chaotic and somehow he is the only thing that feels still. She tells herself it’s nothing. She’s good at that.
He tells himself the same thing. He’s even better at it.
A slow burn in which two people are absolutely, completely, one hundred percent not in love with each other. And Donnie deserves so much better than this situation. And nobody is handling anything well.

The reflection in the mirror wasn't him, but what the invasion left behind of him.
So odd to see time change his body while he felt like he wasn't a day older. But no, it had been months. It had been enough time for the city to rebuild, and apparently not him. Was it fair? He only managed to get out of bedrest a week ago. And he never had been the one to train so fiercely, but now he knows he needs to. It felt too depressing for his liking to be standing in front of the mirror trying to find something that was more familiar. And he cannot fall like his father did.
