Ten years.
That was how long I had been in this place. The pale blue shackles eating away at my wrists had never been removed and were fused now with my skin where it had gaped and bled and grown to absorb the metal. The chains that held me to the wall behind were sturdy, reliable. There was no amount of tugging and pulling and thrashing rage that would have loosened their hold and the magic imbued in them was unyielding. What abilities I could access felt like a blessing from the Mother herself.
I had not tried to escape in a very long time. I was set on my path, had been from the start, and had realized early that this was not going to be an epic tale. I wasn’t going on a grand adventure. I wasn’t destined to take down armies. I was sent to protect the girls in this camp from the confines of my little grey cell until the moment struck and I could free us–truly free us. In the meantime, I would absorb what pain I could and shield them from its bite. This was my duty.
That was, until they finally came to rescue us.

Okay so this fic has been going on for much longer than I intended, but I love the drama! It was MEANT to be very little plot, mostly fluff, smut, angst, drama, shenanigans, and banter. But now its getting a little heavier with plot and angst because the characters are in charge not me.
