Summary
Harua looks over at him, conducting the most subtle once-over he can. It’s crazy how people get so worked up over this guy. Sure he’s attractive, but so are all models. That’s literally their one and only job. Honestly, it’d be offensive if Nicholas Wang couldn’t even do that right.
-
Nicholas Wang is one of the top fashion models in the country. Killer face, great style, impeccable aura, and the kind of charisma well-suited to putting just about anyone under his spell. And if he’s got a scandal or seven to his name, well, that just makes him a more interesting conversation piece.
Harua Shigeta is the newest fashion photographer on Nicholas’ team. Quiet, stoic, and most notably immune to the model’s so-called “charms.” The only reason he’s here is to do his job, collect his check, and leave.
Now why does Nicholas have to make that last part so hard?

Summary
Euijoo never wanted to be a Jaeger pilot. As a technician, he only ever planned to help build the machines, never fight inside of one. In the war against the Kaiju, it was the one way he knew how to be useful.
Nicholas had long since given up on becoming a Jaeger pilot. He’d only ever Drifted with one person, and that person was dead. If the world was ending anyway, he was fine to stand back and watch it collapse.
But plans change. And amidst an unexpected transfer to Tokyo, dwindling resources across the pacific rim, and a connection too strong to be ignored, the two of them together might be the very salvation the world needs.
And the solace they’ve both desperately been searching for.

“It’s a Sinners List, Yuma. You know how they work. We get to know what they look like; we get to know where they live. We don’t get to know what they did,” Nicholas drawled.
“Yeah, sure.” Yuma nodded impatiently. “Is it possible, though… that someone could’ve been put on one, I don’t know, by mistake?”
“Mistake?”
“The guy, Asakura, he just seems like… look I’ve been at this a long time, and he doesn’t seem like a typical Sinner. I don’t get the vibes.”
“What vibes?”
“The bad vibes. The vibes of a Sinner.”
“Newsflash, Yuma, this is Hell. It’s all bad vibes.” Nicholas pointed a shiny, sharpened fingernail down at him. “You, right now? You’re a bad vibe.”

yuma is a reaper under contract to the devil, ridding the world of sinners in exchange for time off his eternal sentence. something about one of his latest assignments, asakura jo, doesn’t compute.

“So is the attitude problem just a figure skater thing, then?”
Taki stiffens, his blades wobbling as he stops to look over his shoulder. “Excuse me?”
Maki’s holding his stare. He’s got long lashes, and Taki’s starting to think good things really do happen to jerk people. “Would it kill you to lighten up? We don’t wanna be here either.”
-
Out of all the challenges he faces as figure skater, Taki would humbly put being forced to share a rink with the local hockey club at the very top of the list. Particularly the team’s new defender, a rough and tumble boy with distracting dimples and a smart mouth.
Who also manages to bowl Taki over on the very first day.
(or: taki is a figure skater with something to prove to himself. maki is a hockey player with something to prove to everyone else. they collide. literally.)

“I think the kids might be a little… you know… scared of him.”
Fuma raised an eyebrow. “Which ones?”
Euijoo froze. “...I’m sorry?”
“Which kids do you think are scared of Nicholas? Did any of them mention something to you?”
“It’s not that they mentioned anything per se.”
“Are any of them acting differently around him?”
“Well… no.”
Fuma blinked a few times, waiting for Euijoo to elaborate or offer up some sort of actual explanation then. He didn’t – just stood there with his arms crossed too tightly across his chest to be casual, one of his hike-worn sneakers thumping an offbeat rhythm against the wooden floor.
Fuma’s eyebrows pulled together slowly. “Then I don’t follow.”
“Fine, it’s me, okay? He scares me.”

Wherein Euijoo is a camp counselor tasked with training one of the new hires – a guy with sleepy eyes and a perpetual i’ll-kill-you stare.

Summary
“The Cutthroat Cat did it,” someone said from behind Fuma, loud enough to be heard over the agitation of the crowd. It made Fuma spin around, the accent unfamiliar, certainly not local, and not one he recognized even from his time in Edo.
The stance was what caught Fuma’s attention. Someone who looked at the scene without fear or confusion, and a heavy cloak and hood on a bright spring day. It was suspicious. The figure began to move backwards, turning to walk away from the crowd. Fuma trusted his instincts and followed, with only a brief glance back at Hirota to make sure he wasn’t abandoning him to a brawl.

Summary
The hot sun beat down on Euijoo’s neck as he trudged through another dead field. Euijoo figured it must be 2031, the fifth summer since the world ended, but the calendar in his head had long since faded. Time was now measured by the ache in his muscles and the gnawing hollowness in his gut.
Euijoo has spent years surviving alone in a world determined to kill him. One day, by chance, he finds not only a long-lost friend, but also his family, and with them, the first real possibility that survival might no longer mean running.

Summary
The thought of Nicholas was a lifeline thrown into the chasm of his despair. He could see Nicholas's face so clearly, the way his eyes crinkled when he smiled, the serious set of his jaw when he was focused. He remembered the night they'd made the promise, huddled together in the barn's loft, the world outside a distant, threatening hum. "We stay alive," Nicholas had whispered, his hand tight on Euijoo's. "No matter what. And we always find each other. Always." It was a vow.

Summary
Nicholas thinks if he hadn’t been with Euijoo that day, he'd probably be dead.
When he closes his eyes he can still smell the smoking mortar. He'd fled Shiganshina because Euijoo had, joined the scout regiment because Euijoo believed in being noble, and stayed because he can’t stomach the thought of Euijoo on a slab. When the wall was breached they'd been lying side by side, hands close, not touching.
And still, after all this time, Nicholas can feel the warmth.
