The door swung open again, letting in a gust of damp night air and a man shaking water from his dark hair. The older man slid onto the stool beside Dennis, close enough that their elbows almost brushed. He ordered a beer, his voice a low rumble that cut through the background noise. Dennis caught his profile in the mirror behind the bar – sharp jawline, salted hair, tired eyes, an easy confidence in the way he leaned against the worn wood.

Michael pulled back just enough to growl, "Stay open," before diving back in with renewed fervor. His tongue plunged deeper, a slick invasion that made Dennis cry out, hips lifting helplessly off the mattress. Then came the pressure -thick, blunt, and insistent- as Michael’s spit-slicked finger circled Dennis’s stretched rim. No warning, just the relentless push past resisting muscle, knuckle-deep in one brutal slide. Dennis gasped, the sudden fullness a sharp counterpoint to the wet heat still working him open from the outside. The stretch burned, a delicious ache that radiated through his lower stomach.

He slides off of the arm of the chair and onto where Duke gestured, trying not to land too heavy. As he does it he watches Robby’s expression change – concern melting away as he raises his eyebrows and runs a hand through his beard. He looks impressed. Dennis made the right move.
Duke sounds delighted, “There we go. Taking it like a man, aren’t you? Not so shy around a bit of attention.”
Dennis feels himself flush at this, it escapes no one’s notice and a moment of quiet falls in the garage. Some old rock tune in the background plays on. There’s a sense of anticipation; they want to know what Dennis will say.
“I can take it,” he repeats.
“Good man.”

Dennis has always struggled to fit in as one of the guys, so when Robby invites him out for a boys’ night, Dennis is anxious to prove that he belongs.

“Thank you,” Dennis murmurs, gripping the keys tightly.
“Just remember the house rules, okay? Oh, and here,” Robby reaches into his chest pocket and pulls out a folded sticky note. “Security code and my number.”
“Um, okay,” Dennis says, and Robby watches as he unfolds the paper, quickly reading through the numbers, before he gently folds the paper and securely slips it inside one of the zippered pockets of his wallet.
“The number is just in case you need to get in touch for any reason. I won’t answer, so just leave a voicemail.”

Robby gives Dennis his phone number before his Sabbatical, although he bluntly admits he won't pick up. Dennis calls anyway, leaving a voicemail every single night.

If God is always listening (and Dennis has been told repeatedly that he is) then God already knows what goes on inside of his head. God knows that Dennis has been harboring strange, perverted desires for as long as he’s known how to want. God knows that Dennis’s peers never could capture his attention the way their fathers did. God, more than anyone else, knows the sheer depths of the youngest Whitaker child’s depravity. All-seeing being, right? That’s the way the story goes.
