At that, Jax gave her a long look as his mouth narrowed out into a little line. Then he sighed quietly. It wasn't the way he used to sigh, with dramatic posturing that begged the attention from anyone even remotely listening. It was small. Tired. Reflexive. Then he sat down with his knees to his chest, glaring into the dark water. The only light here, a single streetlamp, glowed weakly.
"Denial is an ugly color on you. Clashes with your stupid hat."
"Jax — "
"I'm gone," he snapped. His voice echoed in the abyss. "Don't you get it? No one comes back from Abstraction. You're not saving me, you're not helping me grow. All you're doing is keeping my body from rotting." Jax's hands worked their way up to his head, squeezing as he growled, "You're talking to a ghost."

Pomni couldn’t fall back asleep.
This wasn’t a new issue, after all she’d always been a bit of an insomniac. Even in her time before the circus, she’d often found herself struggling to sleep through the night.
Like every other unwitting night owl, she had her tricks to survive until morning regardless. White noise, a warm drink, or if all else failed, a book.
None of those tricks were working tonight.
Which is probably why she ended up in Jax’s tent.

Everyone went dead silent. Pomni had half the mind to check if the room was dim enough or if Kinger went insane again.

In all the chaos his words brought upon the group, everyone was occupied with their own thoughts, but Pomni managed to catch the absolutely panicked look on Jax's face.

If someone asked Jax what it feels like to be him, he'd probably wouldn't be able to give an answer.
Not enough of a man would be a close conclusion, though he wasn't sure if the implications applied to him due to the place where he was trapped in. Not like anyone could assume a purple rabbit was really the epitome of masculinity, obviously including his ears and tail which, for some reason, /oh here it is, had to ask Caine for it to come back/.
"Never realized I had lost it" he'd whisper to himself, alone in the middle of the night, with his back facing away from the wall with too many memories, photos he'd rather not look at again, but for some reason refused to take down.

The Amazing Digital Circus has been raided by a new and advanced version of Generative AI that promises a wider, expanded world, a connection to the wider world via the Internet, and maybe, just maybe, a way to fix Abstraction. The problem is it’s a devil’s bargain that threatens more than it saves and the gang are becoming increasingly aware that there's a lot more going on than what it appears and they're going to need a lot of additional help if they want to figure out the truth.
Abby has a problem.She’s just received a desperate message begging her to reach out to five people she’s never met because if she doesn’t bring them together an entire digital world may come unraveled. It shouldn’t be her problem, except… It kinda is. After all the request came from herself (sort of).
Once more, six strangers will have to come together, united in a common adventure; once more, six friends will have to fight to save their home, because if the curtain falls on the Digital Circus, it may fall for everyone.

Spoilers for the finale, obviously. Read at your own risk.
After everything that happened life at the Digital Circus is... better. Of course with one big exception: the abstracted state of their friends. Luckily after trying hard to figure out a way, a bug fix is developed to uncorrupt the data and bring their friends back from abstraction.
From Pomni's urging Jax is the first one brought back to and given a task. Help them bring the others back from abstraction and make up for the mistakes they mad. It's Jax's shot at last redemption. And maybe, just maybe Jax is done running and ready to face who they are and what they did.

Fear momentarily forgotten in place of morbid curiosity, he considered the red and yellow pixel stripes of a circus tent. Then his gaze drifted lower, across the desk, and settled on the virtual reality headset waiting beside the monitor. Almost like an open invitation.
What he did next wouldn’t surprise anyone.
Lee kept waking up from nightmares, wondering whose body he really belonged in. His own, or that stupid, purple rabbit's.
