Hermione could have never predicted the consequences of her decision to stay. What was meant to be a stolen moment of indulgence for herself turned deadly when she was confronted by a familiar blonde Death Eater off the battlefield. Maybe it was cosmic intervention, more than likely it was just the drugs, but when it came down to it, pleasure won over pain.
-Her heart rioted against her ribs. It was oddly intimate, staring directly at her assailant. Frustratingly, her fear hadn’t entirely overridden the effects of the drug coursing through her system. Her brain perceived him for the real threat he was, but in her current state, it foolishly acknowledged the beauty in his sharp edges as well. Tiny electrical impulses fired against her will where his flesh met hers. She had to dissuade herself from lifting her free hand to trace the contour of his jawline, curious if the motion would draw blood.
She wet her lips. A subtle almost imperceptible shift in his gaze betrayed his impassive facade. A crease formed between his brows, the conflict reflected in his eyes seconds ago now etched across his every feature. His gaze slid down her body in an unabashed appraisal.-

a string of attacks forces them to work alongside one another, fighting the remnants of a once-uncommon enemy, and the stakes only rise when the well-meaning ministry introduces a marriage law. draco is left to decide whether he will marry her, or leave her in the hands of another wizard, a fate which, to hermione, seems worse than azkaban.
