    He’s begging now. Begging Ilya to take him back. To forget everything that happened in Tampa. It would be hard, but he would do it. He would do anything to keep Ilya.
    “I’ll do anything,” he tells him. “I’ll do anything you want, just please don’t… Please don’t do this. I mean it - I can pretend I don’t feel anything. Please, just… just take me back. Let me come back to you, I’ll be so good for you. Please. ”
    Ilya doesn’t answer. He’s so quiet on the other end of the phone, that Shane has to check his screen if the call is still going. It is.
    “Ilya?” he whispers.
    “Shane,” Ilya whispers back. “Please hang up the phone.”

     

    - or, shane's accident never happens and ilya follows through with his promise to break things off with shane, only to regret it immediately, especially when shane calls him drunk and upset
